Guest guest
Dear Welcome to the still's family. I'm quite new to it also and when reading your post I noticed how similiar our experiences were. I too thought I had flu...was in fact diagnosed with it by my G.P, I could not understand why after three weeks I was getting worse instead of better. I've never really been ill before and thought I should have shaken it off after a short stint in bed...but soon I couldn't lift myself out of bed and 2 - 3 times a night my husband was having to strip the bedding and me because the fevers were so bad that the bed was soaked. I spent the next three months in hospital and was diagnosed by a second year resident (My consultant would not agree with her because she came up with the diagnosis and she was young and female, he was middle aged and Egyptian?!) I eventually had to get another Consultant and was officially diagnosed soon after. Even though it took six months from onset of symptoms, I still know it was a quick diagnosis as I've heard horror stories of people waiting years and being misdiagnosed. The biggest problem after that was thinking I was cured or in remission all because the steriods had kicked in and I felt better...not 100% but a lot better, I took on too much and even messed around with my medication for a while. It took a long time for it to get through to me that this was my life now in fact thats what I kept saying over and over " This is NOT my life " I was incredulous that this could happen to me...definatley not in my master plan. It's been 20 months now and I am more at home with my situation I hope you continue to respond well and I wish you and your wife all the very best. Guest guest
HI! Were in Odessa and my husband is from San Angelo, lol I am new to this all the way around, but if you ever need an ear! Welcome... Yell Subject: hiTo: Texas-Autism-Advocacy Date: Sunday, October 12, 2008, 1:34 PM Hi my name is and I just moved to Midland about a month ago with my 2 children. We moved from San Angelo to here so I could get the best help possible for my son. Corey (my son) age 10 was diagnosed with having Mild Mental Retardation but falls in with Dyspraxia.(sp) So far with us being here it's been great. He gets to interact with children his own age off and on during the day at school. But the best part is he get to go to the same campus as his sister. What I'm looking for is the support and help we all need to deal with the everyday ordeal of having a child with special needs. Possibly even some sort of support group. Guest guest
yea i'm new to the area too, but I have tons of family from my moms side here and the surrounding areas so it's not too bad. The kids and I drove around and got lost just to find our way around Midland and Odessa. It was great and we had the time of our lives. Guest guest
Hi I'm not sure where in Northern California you are, but I am in Sacramento. My daughter is 5 with high functioning ASD. We used to belong to a playgroup, but it fizzled out. There is a monthly event in Roseville at BounceU that is only open to ASD kids and their families, it's a great place to meet others in the ASD community. Also I know of a few churches that have wonderful programs set up specifically for ASD kids, let me know if you are interested. > > Hi, > Im new to the group and i was curious if there was any play groups in Northern California?
