Guest guest
I don't know about KT but Manuka honey has helped me - about 1 tsp before bed......also organic peppermint tea before bedtime Check out what the side effects of Prilosec does.....is it really helping? ~ GERD Is anyone on this list still with experiences with GERD? I noticed a couple of archived messages about it...and wondered if there was a good chance that my husband could be benefited from KT. He was diagnosed with GERD years ago, and they wanted to do surgery and put in a tube, but we did not want the surgery, because he would have to be on antacids the rest of his life. Well, today he still is on prilosec, and many times takes tums in the night when he has a " breakthrough. " He literally wakes up choking/ drowning in his stomach acid, which leads to vomiting. It is really sad and horrible. So, has anyone been able to completely get off prilosec for good using the KT? Fingers crossed, Modiste
Guest guest
I know exactly what Prilosec does, and that is why I want him off it. But I can only do it gradually, and only if something else is helping the acid, or I would have a very sick man on my hands. I have some of the Manuka honey...I will get started on that...Thanks!!! Guest guest
Modiste I have suffered from GERD for years and just recently kicked its A$$! Here's how I did it. I stopped eating my large meal for dinner and started eating my larger meal at lunch. Dinner is one small plate of food. No seconds. No stuffing myself. Made sure to keep 1/2 of my daily food as a combination of raw fruits/vegetables. I eat raw veg/fruit at every meal. Cut down on spicy foods which I love . Never drink wine after 7pm (I go to bed at 11pm). Unfortunately I found kombucha made my GERD worse when I didn'tdo the above. Now, I'm finding that in combination with the above I can drink a whole 12 oz glass of Kombucha with dinner with no problem. Instead, now, the KT actually seems to help. It helps my digestion immeasurably. Does that make sense? Teresita
Guest guest
Hello, I have had success with Apple Cider Vinegar a small amount at a time, for indigestion, It may work with GERDS too. The Honey is a very good approach also. A combination of both may get you back to normal in time. I had heartburn and indigestion for years before drinking ACV straight. A strong batch of KT might be advisable too. More on the side of a vinegary drink, after meals; or when you want relief from stomach problems. The more acidic the better. The acid in the KT actually forces the body to become more alkiline. Test strips will tell the story. Just personal experience. Guest guest
Thanks ! I was wondering if the more vinegary brew would be better for him. As I mentioned in my last post, the AC vinegar does help so that gives me hope that maybe we can get this balanced. You recommend the KT after meals instead of before? (we are aiming for weight loss too.) Guest guest
Hi Modiste, you may consider kefir. It is know to help folks with a variety of digestive disorders. It is another acidic probiotic beverage like kombucha, but it's scoby lives in milk intstead of sweetened tea. - Woody Subject: Re: GERD To: original_kombucha Date: Wednesday, March 21, 2012, 9:24 AM  Hello, I have had success with Apple Cider Vinegar a small amount at a time, for indigestion, It may work with GERDS too. Guest guest
Modiste - I'm not sure if KT has a direct effect on weight, it could be just that it displaces high-carb (fattening) soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. The key to losing weight permanently (and effortlessly) is eating nutrient-dense foods and feeling satiated. My wife and i have both lost 25 lbs or so the last 4-5 months following basically a high-fat low-carb diet (more or less paleo diet with raw milk dairy). Check out the book Eat Fat, Lose Fat if you wanna lose weight permanently and easily. - Woody
Guest guest
I do have a kefir going! :-) Â I have been mostly giving it to our dogs because I am not totally sure it was being " correct " so I wanted to do a few milk changes before I started giving hubby some. It seems to be going well now, and I just started him and I on some today. We will see how that goes. Modiste
Guest guest
Modiste My KT is right in the middle, if I let it get too sour then its harder on the GERD - At least until I'm fully healed! I mix it up a lot on the fruits and veggies: If I do all cooked then its mostly a vegetarian meal. I'm not a salad eater. I get bored with them really fast. I'll do sliced lightly pickled veggies too like cauliflower, cucumber, beets, radish. For fruit I stay away from citrus and do mangoes, apples, berries, melons, asian pears etc. For my son (who doesn't like KT) I mix 3/4 KT with 1/4 fruit juice, we love to add Pom to our KT.
