Guest guest
Great job, !! I'm with you on the compound movements. I like the idea of functional fitness, that a lot of times compound movements are exactly what we do in real life but we're not often moving to the beat of a quick music while performing them. So, I'm not sure the workouts with them really help as much as they say they do, in terms of building strength especially because, as you note, the way they're done can compromise your form. Possibly they help more in terms of making you more comfortable performing those movements? I'd be interested in knowing if there have been any studies of their effectiveness in terms of the suggestions that they help with life tasks (and muscle building). Burn Circuit 3, and Au Revoir to the Burn Phase of ChaLEAN Extreme This morning I got up and did Burn Circuit 3 for the fourth and last time in this rotation. I went up in one exerise: on the lunge with a calf raise I went from 25's to 30's. Reflections on the Burn Phase:I must say I am amazed at how much stronger I feel after the Burn Phase. I felt incrementally stronger after just two weeks of doing ChaLEAN Extreme! The slow and heavy fail by the 12th rep method seems to be working for me! I'm not sure how effective some of the compound movements are. They are certainly fun to do but sometimes it can compromise your form, too many things to thing about at once, and my trainer, Noel Fuller, is against compound moves and since he trains pro bodybuilders I would have to agree, I don't know that muscle confusion is the way to build. I know that in the Push Phase coming up you do focus on just one muscle group at a time and aim to fail by the eighth rep, and I can't wait to try it!Tomorrow I need to do Burn it Off, I've Got Abs, and some stretching, which I will probably do from Debbie Siebers' Slim Series. Tonite - a much needed massage!Bright Blesings,
Guest guest
Oh, I am definitely stronger than I was before I started and am building muscle, no question about that, but CLX will be just that much more effective in the Push Phase, I think.Once Stacey and I are done with CLX I'll start up with Noel for awhile - I have some free training coming to me because Mr. Famous signed up to see him 3x a week for 6 weeks! After that Stacey and I are doing P90X together. I'm excited to see what kind of gains I can get from that too (muscle gains, that is - I wanna be buff like Darcy!) .. Guest guest
Is the Push Phase less combination moves? I know I do get stronger using any kind of strength building but I'm less comfortable with the combination moves because of the form issues. Do you think they're less likely to make you buff though? You'll be buff for sure, between Noel, P90X and losing weight, the muscle has no choice but to show itself! :-) Re: Burn Circuit 3, and Au Revoir to the Burn Phase of ChaLEAN Extreme Oh, I am definitely stronger than I was before I started and am building muscle, no question about that, but CLX will be just that much more effective in the Push Phase, I think.Once Stacey and I are done with CLX I'll start up with Noel for awhile - I have some free training coming to me because Mr. Famous signed up to see him 3x a week for 6 weeks! Guest guest
Great job ! I don't mind doing the compound moves this time around. At the beginning of this year when I tried doing CLX, the compound moves hurt my back, this time they don't.
