They got abundant milk that full time and the meat was WONDERFUL!!!! The butcher was quite impressed and told me he always enjoyed butchering our steers and hogs. (I didn't know back then of the rumors that they kept a few pieces for their own use and don't know if that is true or not.) We LOVED the meat and it was super tender. These days I'd like to find a source of mini bred calves as there are only 2 of us and we don't eat enough to warrant a full sized steer. We got cheated too many times in offering shares to family and friends and they don't pay up. We've gotten into meat goats and are expecting kids any day so they will hopefully be similar to the milk fed beef with much less fat. ~*~ Shar ~*~http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ManagingCaprineBucksandWethershttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/GoatMilkCheeseMeat/ Can love help you live longer?
