Please read my message, regarding drinking raw milk, that was written today with

this unfortunate woman in mind. It is very unfortunate that some body would

become paralyzed. But paralyses is ultimate. Becoming sick with Solmonela,

Botulism and very very possibly E-Coli is a very real danger. I have visited

many many daury farms in Pensylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin. Only one of the farmers

in Ohio sprayed the udders and teats of his cows with warm water to wash the

dung of the cows and stistimulated the udders and teats of the cows before

applying the machines. Other just milked the cows. And he sold his milk raw to

people who just visited his farm, took out a bottle of milk and kept the money

in the money bowl. They never questioned when the cow was milked. They never

ever saw the cows being milked. They assumed the milk came from the cows.

People are sure to become sick if they drink the milk of the cows wiwithout

boiling.

Satusoft,

With all due respect, I'm curious as to just exactly how many dairies you

visited, particularly in Ohio and Wisconsin. Also, were these large commercial

dairies, or small family run ones? Were these dairies licensed? How many

animals were they milking? Please answer these questions for me, as I have a

reason why I am asking.

I can tell you that I hand milk my goats, and that I am very careful with my

milking procedures. I bring my goats to the milk stand and brush off their

bellies and udders to remove any loose debris. My hands are cleaned with hand

sanitizer before milking. Then I wash their udders and their teats with a warm

cleaning solution. I scrub the ends of the teats really well. The udder and

teats are dried with a clean paper towel. The first couple of squirts from each

teat go into a cup for me to examine, and to ensure that only clean milk is

going into the pail. Then the goat is milked into a clean, stainless steel milk

pail. Once milking is done, the teats of the goat are dipped in an iodine teat

dip. The milk is taken to the house, where it is immediately filtered, and

placed in an ice water bath to ensure quick cooling. The milk is labelled with

the day that it was milked. The milk room is cleaned up after each milking

session, as is the milking equipment.

Now, if you want to generalize my milking technique with what you say you have

witnessed, then I beg to differ with you.

Also, when you're " milking directly into your mouth " , are you making sure that

your mouth never touches any part of the animal's teat? Because if your mouth

is touching the teat, then you've contaminated the teat.

Satusoft lives in fear. He doesn't understand the principle of immunity. The

principle is that our bodies need exposure to small amounts of pathogens in

order for our immune systems to remain healthy. I am not advocating dirty

milking, none of us are, but if you are reasonably clean, with soap and water,

clean the teats with warm water and iodine, and milk into a clean bucket, there

is nothing in the world wrong with that. As long as the cows are grassfed, you

are going to have healthy clean milk. It's just the way God made it--the order

of things.

Boiling the milk is just ridiculous. That shows a very fearful person. The

only

thing I agree with him on is that you should watch your farmer milk and

observe his methods, and decide for yourself if you want to drink that milk.

Satusoft sounds a little like someone who is not FOR raw dairy, but against it.

He is very close to being banned off this group.

I totally agree. I was just curious as to his statement about the many dairies

that he had visited for a reason. There are no licensed raw dairies in Ohio,

which is where he/she stated that he visited. If he was visiting commercial

dairies, then I would find his statement believable, because that milk is slated

to be pasteurized.

Exactly. Pasteurization encourages the production of DIRTY

milk, whereas raw milk sales encourages cleaner practices

from farms.

I would definitely be interested in proof of his statements

about which dairies he's visited. Sounds a little like he lives

not in PA but in India. And if so, I find it humorous that he

would lecture us on how to persuade our American lawmakers

on raw milk.

If he is willing to provide the proof of the dairies that he visited, would you

please permit that to post? I'm betting that they were all commercial dairies.

And I'm with you, it sounds as though he lives in India.

Oh yes definitely. If Satish can provide proof of the dairies in PA

that he's visited and someone can verify that they exist, I would

very much be interested in knowing if they were commercial or

not. I will definitely allow him to post whatever proof he has.
