Guest guest Posted September 25, 2010 Report Share Posted September 25, 2010 I was jonesing all day to do Body Pump for some reason - probably because I miss Noel and the big burns! Body Pump is different from Noel's training though in that it is an hour long full body workout and each body part is done for the length of a song, so it's lighter weights more reps. On at least three of the tracks my barbell was loaded heavier than the instructors, even the men - HA!! Of course I was weaker on some too such as with biceps, lunges and shoulders. I am sore everywhere but my abs from this, I went to cut up an onion afterward and my arm was shaking! Here is what I used: warmup - 10 lb Body Barsquats - 33 lb barbellchest - 12 lb dumbellsback - 33 lb dumbell - this was challenging but I love working back!triceps - 23 lb barbell, owbiceps - started with 12 lb dumbells but ended with 9's. why are these always so hard compared to other body parts?? lunges - used my own body weightk which was plenty. I was happy to finish all the reps with this wonky knee!shoulders - for the rear raises I used 5 lb dumbells, same for lateral raises. for overhead press I used a 5 lb Body Bar. I was screaming by the end of the 5 minutes or so that this lasted! abs - Body Pump abs are always too easy for me. Turbo Kick abs are excruciating by comparison! They did a creative move though, you use your barbell almost like an " ab roller " rolling forward and back on the floor while you're on your knees. My friend Tressia and I went to watch the Lion Dance (it was NEAT!!) and they had free acupuncture there! I had always wanted to try it. They were putting needles in your ears for overall calming, but I asked for attention on my wonky knee so they pricked part of my ear that connects to the knee. She said were I to go in for a real appointment I'd get more needles on the knee itself. I learned these guys are located right by me and it's only $22 an hour by a student under supervision. I'm TOTALLY going to do it! Not sure what tomorrow's workout will be. I know I will be sore from Body Pump but I think I would like to do some more power yoga for strength, balance and stretching.
