Guest guest
Hi guys! Just wanted to let you know I'm still here and I still care and love you all. I've had a bit of a rough patch but I seem to be in a holding pattern at the moment. There are days I can't ask for more, you know what I mean? Yes, I'm still working but I'm taking a lot of drugs in order to do it. The Enbrel doesn't seem to be helping as yet but I've only had three doses so far. I had to stop it for a week since I've had another tooth extracted (thank you prednisone) so once again I've had to up the prednisone and take more hydrocodone (whoopie!) I'm still smiling, though I think it's the drugs doing that for me and as I said, I still love you all and miss you desperately! My fingers are starting to hurt again so I'm going to stop here. I can't wait for all this to resolve a bit so I can type without having to go back and retype because my fingers don't like to move. Take care and be well my darlings. All my heart and soul, Ellen

Guest guest
It's so good to hear from you Ellen. I've missed you. So sorry to hear you're still in a flare. I hope you pull out of it soon. The Enbrel helped me for a little while....but not enough to reduce my prednisone. I sure hope it works for you. Take care of yourself and hope to see your smilin' self often again...soon! in tx
Guest guest
Thought something was up when we had not seen you around. We missed you. Hope you stay on the mend. I be doing fine since last we talked. Supposed to go back to work part time for 2 weeks, starting Monday, to see if I can cut it. Prednisone down to 40mg by then and the Imuran at 75mg. I have been working some in the garden and banging away at my guitar. May have overdone it a little today. Anybody have any spoons I can borrow? hugs to you Tom (Fuzzy) > > Hi guys! Guest guest
Ann my dear: I'm sorry to hear about your resort visit but at least it was just a visit and not a " vacation " . I also wish I could tell you the Enbrel is working for me but I'm supposedly not going to know that for a few weeks yet. I do have to get ready for work though. I'm going to make myself some breakfast take my pain killers, and take some with me, smile through the tears and make everyone think I'm the picture of health (LOL). Don't you just LOVE drugs? Feel better honey. Take care and be well. Ellen
Guest guest
Marty, my love, Yes, prednisone seems to be the catalist to my tooth loss. It doesn't happen to everyone but this is my 7th tooth! Oddly enough the rest of my bones seem to be fine. As a matter of fact my last scan showed a 20% increase in bone mass. The doctor was pleasantly surprised by that. Honestly, I think it had to do with my going to the chiropractor. He doesn't " crack " me, he stretches my back. I have to get ready for work. Yes, I'm still working. If it weren't for the " happy " pills I don't think I could keep working; they cover up everything just enough that no one knows I'm in pain. Don't you just love it! So tell me, how's the family? Take care and be well darling. All my love, Ellen
Guest guest
Hi Libby! Honey, I've been on prednisone for 13 years now. More like a roller coaster, really, up and down on the dosage, even getting off of it completely for a time a few years ago. Yes, it's actually possible. And of course, I know, as I'm sure almost everyone else does that it's not the best drug to be on due to the side effects but it seems to be the most effective for a lot of people. As for the Enbrel, it's biologic " medicine " . At least that's the way it was explained to me. I'll be honest, I'm not quite clear as to what that means but I'm not having a bad reaction to it so I'm going to continue using it until we know it's not the right one for me or the blood work comes back not showing improvement. I did try methotrexate or MTX and had an extremely bad reaction to it. Sweats, heart palpitations, fast breathing, shakes and some disorientation. Not fun. There are so many " new " things out that we, as a collective, can use if not try but just as this dragon is different with all of us so are the meds. Now if you'll excuse me, we're having a nasty storm here so I'm going to shut down the computer in a few minutes before the storm does it again. All ready had one quick outage, and the dogs are now surrounding me, I'd expect the next one will make the dogs try to crawl inside my body. By the way, it's a good day; I woke up this morning. Take care and be well. Ellen

Guest guest
Ellen I was asking because i have had bad teeth for some time ( thanks dad) any hoot after getting stills I have now lost all of my upper teeth but two. for a time it was 3 to 4 every year, they would break crack things like that. I know some was from a bad family tooth doc but most of it all happened about tow years after i started on the roids . it stop 4 years after i stopped taking them . now i am like you the bones well there strong . I did ask the dentist about it and he told me the only way to loose them is not to take care of them. well I have not gone back to him as he showed me his ignorance saying that . heck i was only 10 when they pulled 11 teeth ( baby) and they found out i was missing 6 grown up teeth. at 12 i had braces and for one reason only so later in life i could wear choppers and that is why they fixed my bit . they said i would most likely wear them by 25 well it happened at 48 so I did better then any one thought well that is but the one dentist , the rednecks Marty & G. the redneck's my space http://www.myspace.com/martyg58 Stills ; An illness I know to well! Guest guest
Thanks Ellen for that info. Im on Methotrexate for the last 9 or 10 weeks and so far so good. No real bad side effects as yet, just a bit of nausea and my hair is going real dry but hey, I can handle that. I am actually feeling a lot better today, and am hoping that it is starting to kick in and will be the drug to work for me (My dose went up last night by 5mg, now on 25mg). I want to come off the prendisone in July (I'm on 20mg daily), so here's hoping. I know it has to be slowly taken down, so it could be a month or more I suppose. Anyway, I'm feeling real positive today! I'm gonna get better and come off all my drugs - YEA! Hope your storm passed by without too much damage - I HATE storms, I turn everything off in my house when we have one - computer, tv's, no phones, etc etc!! Well, I hope Enbrel helps you and is the drug to put you in remission. Good luck and stay well. Libby :-) > > Hi Libby! > > Honey, I've been on prednisone for 13 years now.
