All this talk about Bourbon, brought to mind a uniquely American product, Bourbon Whiskey.....My favorite adult beverage...<G>....! Though the name is obviously French, it is so called, because of its origin in " Old Bourbon " area, which is now called Bourbon county, in Kentucky.... And yes, the territory was named in honor of the Bourbon family, out of appreciation of the French aid in the Revolutionary War.... There are some Bourbon whiskey brands that claim origin prior to the final signing of the US Constitution...! And, if it is of interest, my favorite is Wild Turkey 101....That is as far up their glorious chain I'll allow myself to indulge in.... Though I will confess, there are many other excellent labels... Too many Bourbons.....Not enough time....Or funding.....<G>.....! -- W. Bourbonais L'Hermite Aromatique A.J.P. (GIA) PS. In the past, some folks when confronted with my last name, have difficulty pronouncing it, so I always explain it.... " Bourbon, as in Whiskey-A " ...The 'S' is silent... And no, Bourbonais (or Bourbonnais) is not descended of the House of Bourbons...No noble blood, here, as far as I can tell...Someone who knew a lot of heraldry once explained to me that Bourbonnais was a provincial name...The family name first came to Canada, and then Wisconsin, etc.....GrandPa B dopped one of the 'N's for some reason... The city of Bourbonnais, IL, was founded by an ancestor, Henry, I believe....After it got sort of civilized there, he took off out Westward with his Native American Wife, to get lost into the Mists of Time...I can sympathize with where he was coming from, and why he did that, of late.....<G>.....!
