Guest guest
Hi Lyn, Double check the amount of iodine you are getting in the dose you are taking. Often just a drop or two is needed but it depends on how diluted yours is. A little is good more is not necessarily better. Too much iodine too soon can cause the other halogens to be eliminated too quickly and make you sick. Slow and steady is the way with iodine. Iodoral is a brand that comes in small tablets which might be better for those who don't like the taste. Dr Brownstein wrote a book entitled Iodine.,,,,very good information. Peace, Love and Harmony, Bev > > I started taking iodine last spring and I truly forget how I started. I had to be mixing it with something because it is so awfully bitter and will stain teeth if you just take it by spoon. I know I was doing that but I cant remember what I was mixing it with. I only remember when I found DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) this summer to aid my health and discovering that DMSO totally neutralized the iodine taste, so I used that. Well I had to stop doing that because DMSO was making me a Linus. (Remember him from the Peanuts comics?) It makes you worse than a Linus, but that is the picture. The odor follows you everywhere. > > Well, I am happily taking Iodine again when someone on another group keyed me in on how he takes his with Dr. Pepper. I decided to try my Booch and two days later, taking two doses a day of three droppers full of iodine in a shot glass, I have found the way I will take it from now on. Can't believe how booch makes that nasty bitter stuff taste actually half GOOD. There is still iodine in that shot glass, but the booch taste is more than the bitter taste of iodine. > > This is the second thing I have tried mixing booch with lately and finding it making yucky drinks good. Booch gets my vote for changing things that have an awful taste. > > Lyn >
Guest guest
Hi Lyn and Bev. Would like more infromation on Iodine. What is the recommended amount in Milligrams, for beginners( Me). I will try this before Emma does. Iodine for MS , correct? M > > > > I started taking iodine last spring and I truly forget how I started. I also have Brownstein's book and I am also on the Iodine group, tho not active. They had no place for me when I started talking about my health issue and the reason I was taking iodine. The moderator told me to take my topic to the off topic group. It all boiled down to this fact: that the group should be called the hashimotos disease group because they could not look beyond that as the need for one to take iodine. I started taking high doses on my own right before joining the group, because I just didn't feel like it was doing anything by drops. I had started at 8 drops. When I found the group, I learned about the detox your body can do and the remedies they recommended. But my body did not have any trouble. I have been cleansing for a few years now, so apparently my detox pathways are really squeaky clean because I have had no issues. I have no problem taking the even higher doses of iodine that I started this week. But, yes, a newbie to cleansing should start out much lower. Kombucha has not done anything for me, either. I drink big 20 oz mugs of that almost daily with no trouble. I just really wanted to tell you how much KT could work with and change the taste of. That's quite a bit of iodine I'm diluting with it! Guest guest
>Wld like more infromation on Iodine. What is the recommended amount in Milligrams, for beginners( Me). I will try this before Emma does< , it is highly recommended that when you start taking iodine, iosol, or iodoral tablets, to start with drops or the recommended # of iodoral tablets. I take high doses because I have been cleansing for sufficient enough time that high doses do not cause any nasty detox symptoms. I did start out with 8 drops of iosol last spring, but increased it to 1 dropper and then to 2 droppers when I did not feel anything was happening. Iodine will detox your system. The iodine group has recommended nutrients to take with iodine and they also have what is called " salt loading " a purge if you find yourself hurting from detox symptoms. I have gotten through all mine tho in the first 2 years of my own detoxing. I have increased it now to the three I started taking because my nails have all broken during the down time I took since November. So I am anxious to get back where I was and move forward again. If you or your wife have any detox symptoms ever during your own personal health journey, there are several different things you can do to make that lymph move through your system and the pain disappear. One is by drinking salted water. Make sure it is a healthy salt and not iodized salt. But 1/4 tsp in 10 or 12 oz of water, stir and drink slowly on an empty stomach. It is also recommended that you be sure there is selenium and some other minerals in your diet when you take iodine. I don't remember them tho. I just take fulvic ionic minerals and feel I have this covered. They have good information about taking iodine on their yahoo group. I can't link you to their documents, tho, unless you are a member of the group. Lyn > > > > I started taking iodine last spring and I truly forget how I started. Guest guest
Our diets today are iodine insufficient and we do need to supplement. However, too much iodine can have dangerous side effects. If it is giving your body an odor, I suspect you are taking too much and might consider reducing your dose. I was told to take 15 drops per day for two weeks, then resume mainteance dosage which is 2 drops per day. I was also told to take it with 1/4 tsp of vinegar to help absorb it and which I add to water along with the iodine. Lugol's is considered the best iodine to use as it has both iodine and iodide. Both of these are used by different parts of the body. An excellent read is " Iodine - Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It " by Dr. Brownstein... He is an expert in the use of Lugol's iodine and Iodoral. > ** > > > I started taking iodine last spring and I truly forget how I started. Guest guest
Hi Iodine is very important for health and yet it is a bit complex. Dr. Brownstein's book " Iodine " is IMHO a must read for anyone considering taking Iodine regularly and especially anyone with health issues. Iodine can help and iodine can harm and in very small amounts... There may be some infomation on the optimax site..http://www.optimox.com/ Peace, Love and Harmony, Bev > > > > > > I started taking iodine last spring and I truly forget how I started. If it is giving your body an odor, I suspect you are taking too much and might consider reducing your dose.< The iodine was not the odor problem. Have you ever taken DMSO? THAT is the odor problem. I thought I had gotten the odor out, but it only came out of the bottle. I found out I still smelled horrid. Ask anyone who takes DMSO. The odor is a huge problem. >I was told to take 15 drops per day for two weeks, then resume mainteance dosage which is 2 drops per day. Guest guest
I think you're thinking of Lugol's? Some one said a " type " of iodine in the messages and I can't find it. Guest guest
Lugol's Iodine also has both iodine and potassium iodide and if you look on you tube, you can learn how to make it yourself cheaper. It is easy to do. Lyn ----- Original Message ----- Some one said a " type " of iodine in the messages and I can't find it. It had iodine and iodide. If anyone know the name help please. Guest guest
Lugols is a good product! Good potency too. Its measured in Mg ( milligrams). The only other " L " I have seen is Life-flo, but it is measured in mcg ( micrograms). M > > Some one said a " type " of iodine in the messages and I can't find it. It had iodine and iodide.
