Guest guest
Today I got a sweet, sweet surprise that made me excited! I had put my neighbor onto KT about 2.5 weeks ago. Sun will be 3 weeks since that day. He has a jug brewing and I also gave him a 2 qt jug of my booch to let him get started because I had had a conversation with him about how I knew why despite how much time and effort he was devoting to getting healthy he was not seeing enough progress. He said enough to me surrounding this since I met him a few weeks ago that I told him I knew what was wrong. I told him that what he was doing was good. But then I told him he was not giving his body enough ammunition to detoxify and the result of this has him now traveling for spring water with me and drinking 2 oz of KT a day. In fact he started spring water that same day, too. Well, today, he happily told me he cinched his belt up one more notch! In just under 3 weeks!!!! He says he can feel within himself that he is feeling better, too. WOW. Booch has never done anything for me, but I have been detoxing since 2008 and have already come a very long way in that time. So I did not think I would see much of anything, except I felt that I was doing good for my digestive system for the first time ever. This was exciting news from him and I told him I would share it with my KT group. Lyn

Guest guest
Hi ,  I like the way you think.  I agree we do need to do what we can and leave the rest to God. It is a lot of work for me to keep my KT going especially when I am also trying to do a little kefir too. And I had forgotten not to put my kefir close to my brewing KT.  I am fortunate that I am somewhat capable of exercising a little. I wonder how much credit I can give KT? It probably helps some. I am so grateful for this group and the occassional off topic posts that get my attention and are confirmed by my research.  ann CFS/FM/OA ________________________________ To: original_kombucha Sent: Saturday, February 18, 2012 10:53 AM Subject: Re: Booch and Health Update  I often marvel at the way healing chooses us, The way we must do something to get it started makes a big impact on the speed it comes. Guest guest
Thank you, ann. I use a 8-10 day straight KT from single brewing for Emma. Her cognative function is growing by leaps since I recently restarted the Kt in early January. At first I was brewing just 7 days with a secondary fermentation of 10 days, but now its 8-10 primary and up to 2 weeks secondary. a little history here, Emma is my wife and has been diagnosised with M.S. since 1989, and has also a seizure disorder from a mishap with a intrathecrial pump suppling Baclofen directly to her spine. She has been basically wheelchair bound, or bedridden for about 3 years. Her motovation had vanished after the reccession took my job. The siezures come and go, and dont let any doctor lead you to believe that food has nothing to do with them, and the recovery seems to just leave her 3 years back in memory and cognative function. We both started back with the Kombucha. For myself, I was not doing to well, hence depression and sluggish thought process. Well, not anymore. Both of us are doing better, and I praise God for giving me the insight to use the knowledge He gives me to brew Kombucha to help others! Kefir, is another wonderful gift from God. I only wish that Milk was way less expencive, I would drink Kefir after a glass of KT for breakfast, anyday. Just sharing, and as things progress there will be more to come. Guest guest
Hi all, I'm Tim, I'd like to relate my experience with KT, and the healing and expansion of mind I have experienced with it. for many years now, probably almost a decade really, I have been slowly deteriorating due to GWS, and horrible choice of diet/no desire to eat. I was not able to do much of anything, low energy, jointpain off the chart, mobility was horrible, mental faculties were shameful to be nice about it. I had relocated to the area, and was introduced to a couple that were facing their own health issues. after a lengthy observation of my situation, what I now call my brother introduced me to Kombucha. at that time, I was not very receptive to new ideas as having tried alot of things that did nothing for me. so i dabbled with taking it. when i did it showed a little improvement, but not a so called miracle, due to my erratic use. then a little over a month ago,I started going through a highly stressful situation finacially, and he suggested trying kombucha on a more regular basis. in that month, i have regained so much that GWS took from me, my hands and joints are now to the point that i could resume learning guitar without discomfort or soreness. the huge difference has however been my mental capacities starting to return to me. i would be in fogs lasting days before starting this, now, I am alert, clearer then I have been since returning from overseas, and can actually think and grow, both as a person, and as a follower of Christ and God. I truly beleive that God has placed things on this earth to combat the evils that man unleashes upon the world and themselves, and Kombucha is one of them. as a result of course, mainstream health will have a hard time accepting the facts of KT, even going to the extremes of falsifying things about it. my suggestion and challenge to all of you is this, give it a dedicated try, be open minded about what it is and is not, and post your honest, open experiences with this wonderful healthy drink. sorry for the rant, hard to stop when you can finally begin to express your mind after so long. > > > > > > Today I got a sweet, sweet surprise that made me excited! Guest guest
Hello Margret, We live in the U.S.A in the state of land, and hope by sharing others will do the same. I claim no glory for that which God gives me, all that Glory is His. Maybe if everyone would share thier expeirances with Kombucha, we all might find all the answers we are all looking for. By sharing freely, not witholding anything, the answers will become obvious, Kombucha starts the whole body healing process, and it is up to each individual to seek out the rest. I pray they seek wisely, or ask those that will share what they know. As my eye open, the darkness fades, I begin to understand, M > > > Thank you, ann. > > > > I use a 8-10 day straight KT from single brewing for Emma. Guest guest
Do you all remember my neighbor and his weight loss in less that 2.5 weeks of starting KT? Well, he poured off his brew this week and I am JEALOUS. Every bottle he poured had a half inch of head on it that still hadn't dissipated after several minutes. I don't get ANY head out of any of my 6 brews. He did not taste it like I told him to, so it was still very sweet. But he had made the tea already when he asked me to come over and help him do it. When I looked at his vessel it had lots of carbonation bubbles all around the scoby and the smell was kombucha so I felt it was done enough. We decided to use less sugar in the next brew. One c instead of 1.5 cups. I spent the week processing this. I came up with two things that may have produced this great batch of KT. First, his scoby was from my hotel. I wonder if I should scrap all my scobies in my 6 brews and start over with the several I have in my hotel. My second thot, he is a loud, talkative person. I am quiet. He talks with great Italian zest and energy to his scoby every day. I am a quiet dutch girl and don't do that. And I never was good at having a one-sided conversation, in ANY case. I told him at first that his scoby was probably picking up the excitement and energy in his voice every day. That was the only thing I could think of right away. It is only today, as I am doing my tea for new batches, that I wondered if I should start over, pull all my scobys out and use just the scobys in my hotel. My brews get all done, in my opinion. They get vinegary and the smell is right. They just don't ever get a head on them. Or at least nothing that I would call a head. Just some bubbles when I draw it out of the spigot. Maybe I will just let one of my brews get really vinegary. Maybe, just turn one of my three big crocks into a hotel for the big scobys and let them get really strong. I don't know what to call that. But my hotel only gets mature brew. I never put sweet tea in there. Does anybody else need to think as long and hard about kombucha and kefir as I do? I've been strategizing for 13 months over these two things and I still can't rest and just coast. Lyn > > Today I got a sweet, sweet surprise that made me excited! Guest guest
Lyn, Have you tryed all green tea( more like 6-8 reg bags) and the same amout of sugar (carbohydrates). I get more bubbles the stronger my yeast is. Green Tea usually make more bubbles too. Now, for me (at 40lbs. over) to lose weight. Any pointers? Guest guest
Lyn, first off let me say that I've been only brewing since late Nov. My batches have run the gamut so far - I'm still looking for consistency, if it can be accomplished! I've had a few very " beery " CB batches, and one I pulled from a 1/2 gal pickle jar the other day that was very carbonated and tasted like champagne, according to SO. I have made some notes. So far, Oolong has produced the fastest, thickest and most robust scobies; also the prettiest! I've been using 1.5 c of sugar per gallon. But I've varied my teas and proportions a number of times (NO consistency there - LOL) with excellent results. Green tea has produced the weakest scobies, even with extra sugar. A 50-50 ratio of Oolong and black pekoe produced some very frothy and great tasting " beer " , after brewing time of between 9 & 11 days in my CB dispenser. Likewise, after starting out with that blend and decanting, I added just black tea and got the same results. I too, am jealous of my SO...he's only been drinking my KT a month or less and many significant health/physical changes have occurred. For starters, he's dropped 15-lbs and lost 2.5 inches in his waist...chest reduced too. Man-boobs almost gone (hereditary factor). He's been on thyroid meds for several years, with NO changes in his overweight status. Also, he was practically deaf for years, necessitating 2 hearing aids. His hearing is almost 100% restored! BTW, I don't think I'll ever talk or sing to my " babies " , but I DO check on them every day and send them positive thought vibes!
Guest guest
I have two thoughts on this. First is that yes, I strong healthy mother that has been in brew for a while with lots of good yeast will produce strong babes that are highly carbonized. Two, The cup and a half of sugar may have a factor in the head that was produced. The more sugar the yeast has to eat the more byproduct, ie carbon it will produce. I have upped my sugar to 1.5 c in the past, usually in hotter months when the scobies eat faster, and i did notice more fizz the the end product. I did like your theory that his boisterous personality has something to do with it and it would make for a great experiment i think. Let me know if you if out anything new. Warm regards, Joe > > > > Today I got a sweet, sweet surprise that made me excited! I had put my neighbor onto KT about 2.5 weeks ago. Sun will be 3 weeks since that day. Guest guest
, I'm looking for answers to a slow metabolism for weight loss. I found something interesting the other day that I'm hoping will be a start for me. I read where vitamin C and calcium are synergistic and are recommended for weight loss, as well as oolong and green teas. I just started taking 4000 mg of C and 2400 mg of calcium. Wish me luck...I'm wanting to drop 30 lbs! > > Lyn, > Have you tryed all green tea( more like 6-8 reg bags) and the same amout of sugar (carbohydrates). I get more bubbles the stronger my yeast is. Guest guest
Interesting Lyn. There must be something different. I'm not convinced it is him talking to the booch, but since you are neighbors why don't you take one of your jugs over there? Prepare it as you normally do, but then let it be talked and sung to as it matures. Keep after this till you figure it out, and don't forget to share your findings with us! - Woody Subject: Re: Booch and Health Update To: original_kombucha Date: Saturday, February 25, 2012, 5:28 PM Â Oh, I forgot to mention that the booch he is drinking that encouraged his weight loss is from me, too. Guest guest
I've been dropping weight, and it started before i was brewing booch. What has done it for us (my wife is starting to look sexy) is a higher fat low carb diet. Check out the book Eat Fat, Lose Fat by Enig and Sally Fallon. Most Americans are obese cuz they eat a lot of carbs and don't get the healthy fats they need for proper nutrition. I don't count calories, we eat what we want when we want till we feel satisfied. I rarely feel hungry, even if i am busy and forget lunch. My energy level is thru the roof. I love butter, eggs, raw whole milk, all those things that are against " the religion " . I'm gonna start exercising and continue to get in better shape. I love this diet, it's something i believe i can stick with for life! - Woody
Guest guest
Check out the book i told about (Eat Fat Lose Fat). Try a tablespoon of high quality coconut oil before meals, fats help slow absorbtion of foods so you feel full and get more nutrition and are satiated. Just be damned sure to use the right fats, trans fats and most vegetable oils are very unhealthy. I've been methodically losing weight, pulling clothes out that have been in storage for 25 years, on the last belt loop and ready to punch more! The great thing about this book it tells you exactly why it works, it is impeccably researched, and it really seems to work. - Woody
Guest guest
Woody, Thank you for the book idea. I have a problem with missing meals, at least one a day, on the SAD American Diet of 3 meals a day. My etabolism has slowed down due to age, and I dont eat fast food, fatty meats, at all. I will look into the book. I wonder if I should just use a 6 small meal a day plan, well balanced, like my bodybuilder friend suggest. Combining both would make since too. - Woody >
Guest guest
When you cook with or take coconut oil, put some on your lips. Awesome stuff and so much better than the best lip balm. Sent from my iPhone > Check out the book i told about (Eat Fat Lose Fat). - Woody > > > > > TODAY(Beta) • Powered by Yahoo! > Terrell Owen's financial woes hit new low > The former NFL wide receiver is facing foreclosure on two condominiums in the Dallas area. > Privacy Policy
Guest guest
How many calories in the tea? The sore bought bottle reads 80 calories in 16 ounces. Where does the 16 calories per teaspoon sugar go? I admit, I do not understand alcohol sugar Sent from my iPhone > Woody, > Thank you for the book idea. Guest guest
The Kombucha culture feeds on the sugar and, in exchange, produces other valuable substances which change into the drink: glucuronic acid, glucon acid, lactic acid, vitamins, amino acids, antibiotic substances, and other products. The Kombucha culture is, therefore, a real tiny biochemical factory. For more concise information read Gunther s book: Kombucha: Heathy beverage and remedy from the far east. Its Correct Preparation and use. It explains it very thouroughly, in chemical terms. Its avialable on Amazon. M > > > > > > I've been dropping weight, and it started before i was brewing booch. Guest guest
The yeast in kombucha eats the sugar, and in the process converts it into alcohol and carbon dioxide. The longer you ferment the less sugar will be left. The alcohol is in turn converted by the bacteria into organic acids. - Woody Subject: Re: Re: Booch and Health Update To: " original_kombucha " <original_kombucha > Date: Monday, February 27, 2012, 10:14 PM How many calories in the tea?
