Guest guest
Good job on getting 'er done, ! Thanks for the review too! Next week is my last week with Noel, at which point I'm on my own and at this very second in time I'm thinking I'd like to tackle a stack of virgin Firm / FitPrime etc. workouts. How are you feeling?Hugs,
Guest guest
Thanks, ! I'm wonderfully sore in the lower body today, hooray! :-) I have a few more new FIRMS I've collected this summer that I need to get through too. I should make a pile of all my virgins and just plow through them one of these days. Will be interesting to hear what you decide to do and what you think of them too! Guest guest
Thanks, Donna! I purposely don't have a pile though I keep thinking I should put all the virgins together just to make myself focus on trying them. Scattered as they are it is easier to not notice and feel less guilty when I acquire more! ;-) A workout: Total Body Time-Crunch WorkoutTo: exercisevideos Date: Wednesday, September 8, 2010, 10:00 PM Yes, I actually worked out today. The kids are back in school and though my work schedule is in flux, I'm trying to get back to some semblance of a workout routine again. I thought about doing my all-time favorite FIRM workout, Maximum Body Shaping, but didn't want to push myself with the leg presses so I did a virgin, Total Body Time-Crunch Workout with Rebekah Sturkie. I like Rebekah and read good reviews on this so I used a gift card and got it earlier this summer but took the shrink wrap off today. This is from the TransFIRMation weights series and uses only handweights, no other equipment, which is really nice. It is 45 minutes long (there's also a 25 minute express workout which I didn't look at and a tutorial of Rebekah demonstrating some of the more unique strength moves which I did watch) and is a pretty even mixture of cardio and strength training intervals. Overall, I liked it. The music was pretty good, Rebekah looked amazing, I loved her outfit too and it was interesting to do. The strength work seemed to get at least a little bit of everything. You followed the same pattern for almost all the strength training intervals (for example two biceps curls with both arms, then one right arm, one left arm then two both arms then back to each arm) so that made it predictable and easy to follow but not boring. There was a lot of unique moves that incorporated upper and lower body and/or balance and I found it challenging but not overwhelming. The cardio, on the other hand, was very fast paced and she used a lot of new moves that I haven't seen in other FIRM videos, adding on quickly too. I'm not sure if her cueing was bad or if I was just having a hard time because it was unfamiliar or both but I was lost a lot. I"m also out of the "FIRM" mode and workout mode so I can't judge it based on how it went for me today. She took it from the top in each segment at least twice (although the segments were not connected at all) and by the second one I'd kind of have the routine down for most of them so there was some hope that another time or two through and I'd do okay. I haven't worked out this hard in a month and a half and it felt good. She moves fast from cardio to strength and usually does combination strength moves so my heart rate stayed elevated for a while into the strength moves and I even had to use lighter weights than I normally would have because of that. She uses 2 sets of weights (light & medium) but combines them for a lot of exercises. Since they have handles that was easy enough to do but since mine don't, I used 3 sets (3s, 5s and 8s) and that was fine too. There was a short abs segment at the end that was pretty good and what I really liked is that she transitions very nicely into it from other core exercises moving towards the floor in a natural way. The stretch at the end seemed decently long too. She had 4 backgrounders including Annie (who I love, she looked great in this one, not as bulky as she often looks but very fit and very toned) and and two others I'm not sure I recognized. showed beginner/low impact modifications throughout. There's quite a bit of high impact plyo in this and, perhaps because the cardio intervals aren't too long my knees were okay doing it so that was cool (it really added to the intensity of the workout for me). I'd say this is an intermediate workout in terms of complexity of movements (cardio and strength) and intensity but can be modified up or down pretty easily. Tomorrow is a morning through night running around day so I'm not planning to get a workout in but Friday is, in theory right now, quieter so I am hoping to do something after the kids are off to school. I might actually plan a week's worth of workouts for next week but I'm not quite there mentally yet! It did feel very good to challenge myself again though. Will try to reply to posts/email soon. Gotta get to bed now. I've been keeping my summer staying up late schedule but getting up at 5:30 AM anyway and it is hitting me hard tonight!
