Hey Kirk,

Seems like you are having some pretty sorry luck right now. Hope you aren't

feeling too bad tomorrow. It's funny that I am always up late reading and you

are usually around posting. Did you fall because of ice (I don't remember where

you are located). It is raining outside here now (western NC). Temp is pretty

low so I'm sure it will be ice by morning. I hope it clears up by midday. I

have to take my son and myself to the doctor for a check-up. Not too worried

about myself, but I hate to drive on slick roads with Jon in the car with me.

Well, can't think of anything else to say. Goodnight!

LOL it could be worse I don't know why but I thought you were a college kid

living by yourself with no help around. At least you have your family around to

help out when you are sick......My boyfriend is 30 miles away and my family is

65 miles away... I had to move out to BFE where I could afford to live.....Just

me and my cat.....YES I am complaining LOL..... I was trying to cheer you up

earlier....thinking you were some scared college kid..... you are probably my

age or older lol I'm 44 and I used to work in law enforcement which I know

that I will never be able to return to....life does suck. I hate having live

like this..... but I guess that I am going to have to get used to it. I'm used

to helping other people, I am not used to being the one that needs help.

Take it easy.....I am glad that you have a family to take care of you LOL

sliding door. I made it two steps and FWEW!!!! my legs flew out from under

me and I landed like a large rock on my left side. Thank God it wasn't my

back (osteoporosis of the spine) but I really pissed off my hip, ankle and

lower leg.

It's throbbing pretty damn hard now, and I hope I can walk tomorrow. Oh

well, when you're screwed, you're screwed!!! Thought I'd let you know.

Adios, Kirk.

PS....By some miracle, my head missed the rear bumper on my

truck....couldn't have missed by much as my head wound up under the

bumper......that might have been better, as at least I would'nt know about

it yet!!! Than again, with the rock I have mounted to my shoulders, it

probably would have just pissed me off worse!

Kirk...oh no!! Its time for a long hot bath...at least once a day. Falling

is so scary!! It upsets us emotionally even if we don't get hurt.

I can remember just crying the times I fell....one time .....I said to

myself. " why did I fall? " after thinking about it...I realized I did not have

on

a good shoe. Years ago I would spend as little as possible on clothes so I

could take a trip somewhere. A trip I took alright....right to the

ground.....Well, shoes are important. Those high top work boots are a good

winter

shoe. Well I hope you are getting some extra TLC

...you hit the nail on the head with ice!!! My house sits about 20

feet higher than the street and my driveway is a slope, although no too

steep. I did hit ice that was melting snow earlier in the day. It can't be

thicker than 1/8 " ...you know the flat, skinny invisible kind. Thinking back

now, the first thing I felt was my left leg buckle hard (and that's my

" better leg, my right one is " gimpy " ) and my can ripped out of my

hands....than it felt like someone whacked my with a hammer as my weight

mostly landed on my lower left leg & hip. As I stated earlier, I'm pretty

happy as it at least wasn't the kind of fall where both feet fly out from

under oneself and you land on your back, inevitably smashing your head hard

enough off the ground to need stitches....I guess by reading that one anyone

can tell I was NEVER Mr. Coordination!!! Bull in a China shop syndrome one

can call it I suppose.

I'm also up late very often, as night time is my worst time. I scream (so

I've been told by countless people) incredibly loud in my sleep and pain

wakes me up very often. I have a hard time staying asleep at night because

of this, yet once 7:00AM rolls around...I tend to sleep much better. Go

figure. Tonight I went to bed @ 10:00 or so, woke up the first time around

midnight.....back to sleep around 1:00 AM, back up at 2:15, sleep, awake now

@ 3:45 AM......and I'll be going back to sleep shortly and guarantee I'll be

back up by 5:00 AM. Yet...I am totally exhausted!!!! I could sleep for days

on end for weeks!!!! I've been through sleep pills that don't buy me more

than an hour.....night time cold medicine.......name it, I've tried it....it

doesn't work....yet the sleep Dr. (asshole, one of their kings, I believe!)

wouldn't go past the pills he had me try and kept blowing me of until I

decided he wasn't worth my aggravation. He swore up & down that I had sleep

apnea, sold me the machine and then couldn't be bothered by me. I used the

machine for 6 months straight with zero improvement, and now it is in a box

under my bed. It drove me nuts wearing it, but at least the nurse from the

med supply store tried her butt off to make it work for me, but the

Dr.....he wouldn't be able to see me for at least 3 months. I guess he made

his money, why waste his golf time to see a patient with REAL problems. I'm

quite proud of myself as I've stopped at least three people from going to

this " crack " Dr. by telling them how interested he was in my case until he

sold me the machine......than he couldn't be bothered with me, making me

wait weeks and months for an appointment (yet he was amazingly able to fit

me into his " tight " schedule the day I was released from the resort in

Feb/05!!!

Oh well...thanks for the reply. Have a good one.Kirk.

I live in North East Pennsylvania....sort of between Scranton &

Wilkes-Barre....but in the mountains......trees in the back yard, a creek &

more trees across the street. I like the woods, a lot! Hate the weather, but

can't afford to move to Hawaii!!!

Kathleen...I can relate to the hatred of being in this situation...I miss

my job immensely! By the way, I'm 36, " Al Bundy'd " (Married) w/children

(9) & on (6). You bring up something I was just thinking about

last night when I found out one of my customers (who I used to have, but I

still go down the shop to hang out when I can) just became a Pa State

Trooper. I was thinking it is amazing how many of my friends are Troopers

(7) or city police (5). When you factor in that I was a hell raiser (nothing

illegal excluding the fights here and there) until I married (even my

bachelor party the weekend prior to my wedding 6 friends & I beat the hell

out of 20 idiots who picked the wrong bunch to start a fight with and did

$4500.00 damage to a pancake house (still one of the best nights of my

life!!!)) (not charged, they just split the damages 27 ways and we had to

pay for the damage...the only thing that upset me was I had to pay my broke

ass brothers' share) but since have literally been an angel. I grew up with

quite a few of these guys, and became friends with the others in numerous

ways. Weird....I was a mechanic for 20 years and don't " know " 20

mechanics......

Oh well, have a Merry Christmas and good night. Kirk

I don't know Kirk,  with the run of luck you are

having you would have cracked your head and had to go to the hospital and not

get waited on for 3 hours and then have someone yell at you for bleeding onto

the floor!

Diane   42

p.s.  I am also up late   doing a bit of laundry and wrapping Christmas

presents...my

daughter and son-in-law and 17 month granddaughter are coming in from the

Pacific Northwest and I can't wait. We were supposed to go on vacation to see

them

in October but I was in the hospital getting diagnosed with this crappy Stills

disease!

Haven't seen them since July when the baby turned one!

sounds to me like everyone is in the same mood I am in and would just

rather skip christmas.. maybe the Kranks had it right when they decided to

take a cruise instead of decorate for christmas...

We didn't decorate this year - we are back with are family for the first

time in years - I was actually looking forward to it until stills found a

WAy to made life more of a challange again... sucks to be us sometimes...

staying postivie isn't always easy is it.... ??? I'm use to pain, but this

broken rib... just is making everything worse with stills fevers worse -- I

hate it all -- usually I never say that at all...

Funny thing is? We thought of moving to Hawaii!!!!! couldn't do it...

couldn't leave the family......plus the expensive!!

Sorry about everything happening Kirk...

OK gang, you know how this works. Any amount of stress, large or

small can trigger a flare up or worse. Breathe deep, now blow it out

and relax.

I understand all the hussle and bussle for the holiday, although I'll

NEVER understand shopping at 5 a.m. on black Friday (earlier for some

stores around here)...you know people were actually camping out in

front of Best Buy on Thanksgiving! OK, moving on. What I'm trying

to say is you have to find a less stressful way of buying things.

For instance, and Rubin both have birthdays right after

Christmas. I've ordered online, by phone and by fax, just to avoid

the nastiness of the idiots that don't know how to park and still

have the nerve to yell at me because I'm waiting for someone to pull

out of a space! I HATE WALMART!

I ordered a skateboard kit for Rubin's 15th birthday. Bought it

online, the kid was with me, telling me what to buy. We received it

yesterday...wrong deck! Everything else was correct but they packed

the wrong deck! I called customer service, they're overnighting the

supposed right deck and I have to ship this back but I can't use the

label they gave me for some reason. So now I have to pay for the

shipping, fax them a copy of the receipt and they'll refund that

amount from our bill but it won't happen until February. I'll forget

about it by then (as most people might).

I have to go walk the dogs. Merry Christmas to all of you that

celebrate it and a happy and healthy New Year!

Take care and be well.

Ellen

Hey Kirk,

Your sleep pattern sounds a lot like mine. I can always sleep wonderfully

after daylight (until my son wakes up). Sleeping pills don't usually help me

either. The only thing that will make me sleep is Phenergan. Is is a RX nausea

medicine. Only problem is that it leaves you with that hungover feeling. Gave my

husband one once when he was having stomach trouble. It knocked him out for 2

days. Anyway, might try it if you haven't already. You didn't mention how you

are feeling today? Hopefully not too bad from the fall. Take care.
