hi juliet - well i aim for 7 days a week... but i started out tae-bo'ing

every other day, until i got into the swing, then i increased the number of

workouts. listen to your body... if you are feeling pain or exhaustion then

take a rest day. sometimes i can workout for a few weeks, every single

day, and then *whammo* my body says 'no! i need to rest' so i take a day

off... the next day i am ready to go again. however, i have found that my

body is telling me to rest less and less than it did at first. i know that

you hate working out now, but ill say again that if you keep doing it, you

will get your endorphins rushing around and they will make you feel so good

that you will start to love exercising! just keep on going!

Yeah, if I work out more than 5 days a week I get too exhausted. but I'm

getting a little tired of the one tape I have,so I'll have to buy some of

the other ones. how long are the tapes you all do? I'm not sure. I know the

Tae-bo Advanced Original tape is like 50 minutes, but I've been doing the

Basic tape. But I don't think I want to work out for an hour! half and hour

is great, so does anyone know of a great half hour Tae-Bo? Thanks

hi juliet! me again...

i started doing taebo for 30 mins a session but now when i do the studio

(original) basic tape, i tack the studio 8min tape onto the end of it.

the next day i do the studio advanced tape for 30 mins (until the floorwork

starts) and then i do the floorwork the next day and the 8min again. im

now ready to start tackling the entire studio advanced tape. i am finding

that as i get bored of one tape and find it getting easy, then im ready to

do longer sessions, until i am up to about an hour a day. you might find

this happening to you gradually as well because i too thought that i wouldnt

ever want to do more than 30 mins... but here i am feeling like i want to do

that exact thing! i also have the live basic tape and i know that it is 30

mins long and definately a higher intensity than the studio basic. how

about the other tapes that billy now has in his 'basic' series? they might

be 30 mins but im not sure. or get an advanced tape and just stop the tape

after 30 mins have gone by (do a nice cooldown routine though too!) and then

you will still have those extra minutes on the tape if you do ever feel like

going longer. or get an 8min tape and tack it onto what you already have.

does the library or video stores around you have taebo tapes available for

loan? if so maybe you can get a few and try before you buy!

Okay, Thanks for that info, lol. I don't have a video store or anything

around that loans those out, but It no problem, I'll just buy em, eventually

lol, The instructional Basic is 40 minutes, basic is 30, and the Advanced is

50 minutes. And the 8 minute tape. I think I'll get those, and try out some

of the newer ones too. Thanks!

I stick to a 5 day per week schedule. Sometimes I do more, and sometimes

less. It depends on my mood, and how much time I have during the week.

I like the Get Ripped Series. There are two 30min. Basic workouts and they

are intense. The Abs/Glutes tape is good too. I've heard that the TaeBo

Live Basic tapes are good, but I don't have those. I hope this helps.

You can buy tapes at Wal-Mart, Kmart, etc. Also, they are sold at MediaPlay

and places like that. But I'm sure you already know that. :):) I've ordered

all of my tapes except one from QVC. I think it's cheaper that way. I know

that Wal-Mart is only selling 2 or 3 of the Get Ripped tapes, but I ordered a

set of 5 (plus a bonus video) for around $10 more than the Wal-Mart price.

who is also not allowed to watch QVC! :)

Now that I'm in these never ending challenges, I'm back to every day. But

before, I was 5-6 times a week, sometimes 4-5. It would all depend on how my

week was going.

Sandie, Tae and Bo who had to go in today--normal day off, but at least it will

be overtime :o)!!!!

if you are already doing the basic tape, i dont think that the instructional

tape will do much for you... it is kind of a step backward in my opinion...

move forward into another basic tape, advanced and 8 min.

Hi t, everyone is different and does Tae-bo however often they

prefer/like to/can handle. Start small and work yourself up to more

times a week if that is what you'd like. I, personally, do Tae-Bo 7

days a week, but my body can handle it as I've been doing it for over

2 years now. Find what works for you and do it!! OH, I'm sure that

within time you will learn to like exercise also. I never dramed in

a million years that I would like it, and now I have a hard time

going through a day w/out my endorphins screaming at me :)

I'm an exercise addict and love working out so this may or may not be

helpful cuz it's hard for me to actually take a day off. I try to do at

least 3-4 days of cardio and 3 days of strength training. Often I combine my

workouts and do weights and then cardio in one day. I rotate my cardio

between Taebo, hi-lo and step tapes to keep a variety of things going.

I am with you! I have been taeboing for over 1 1/2 years now and I do it

every day. I even udr taebo as my warmup before my aerobics/wts class twice

a week. It is as automatic as brushing my teeth. I feel completely out of

sync if taebo is not part of my day.

Caroline, who taebo'd before aerobics today, only to find my van would not

start to get to class, so I already had my workout done for the day.

worked out, but the hard part is getting started when I'm tired. Sorry about

I am catching up with you girlie! I have been doing Taebo for almost 1 year! =)

A couple more weeks and I hit my year mark! I totally agree with you Taebo is

like a daily task of mine too! Keep up the great work, and Happy 1 and 1/2 of

Taebo!

For the upper body you have push ups, pull ups if you can find a place

to hang from. Also you can do dips between chair backs or a tri

workout by resting hands on chair and lower glutes down and then push

up. Take a couple of cast iron fry pans or other heavy objects and do

side and front raises for shoulders. Do calf raises with ball of foot

on 2x4 or other object. Got a couple of buckets, place water in each

buck for the amount of weight needed and do squats and shoulder

shrugs. Sit on chair and do leg extensions and lay on floor doing leg

raises or crunches. For lower back you can lay belly down on the foot

of the bed and do back extensions.

Then when you get a chance pick up some dumbells and weight plates for

this type of emergency or when traveling. They actually have some

nice sets now that come in carry cases.

Come and scoop my 300 ft driveway then (we don't even bother)! We've

been hit twice here, once the day before Christmas and then last

night. No problem getting out though. We just drive over and

through it.

I see no problem though supplementing your workouts with scooping

snow.

Hi, my name is Shirley I have been a member since January 2002. My

Mom was diagnosed at that time with LBD. Her main #1 problem was that

her neck was starting to go down (stuck in a downward position), she

could only hold it up for a very short period of time and it hurt. It

eventually became stiffer and stiffer. It looked like the bone was

sticking out in the back of her neck. Unfortunately it only got worse

which made it difficult for her to see where she was going, gave her

lots of pain etc. It only got worse. She died this year in December

(not because of her neck so please don't worry there) but due to the

Nursing homes total neglect which I won't go into now, there is a

lawsuit pending.

Anyway I haven't been on here much this last year but I check back

every now and then and couldn't help but notice your post. So I would

like to offer a few suggestions for her comfort and share what I know.

First the redness of the eyes in Mom's case I know at times got very

red and swollen from what I see was due to her head being stuck down

for long periods, she also had eye infections the last year so bad

that they were very puffy filled with fluid. It was very hard to put

any eyedrops or medicine in her eyes because her head was not able to

go back far enough, it made eye exams very difficult but somehow a

few doctors managed. You have to really explain the neck thing to

them, most eye doctors have no idea what the problem is and think up

a variety of possibilities but really don't have many real answers.

I would definitely get her eyes checked for infection and if your

mom's head is difficult to position have the doctor administer the

first dose for you so he can see what your up against and possibly

come up with a better solution for you. Make sure your Mom isn't

rubbing her eyes a lot and that her hands are clean if she does.

Patients with LBD do have eye problems and unfortunately their vision

does suffer, sometimes they can see pretty well sometimes not. Their

depth perception is very bad.

As for the stiffness of the neck for a long time Mom would use a neck

pillow type thing that was filled with rice that you would heat up in

the microwave, you could usually find them at the Mall where they

have those little stands where they sell specialty gifts. Most of

them are scented nowadays and smell horrible try to find one that is

not scented. It was Mom's only form of relief, sometimes we had to do

it off and on all day but it really helped the stiffness.Looking back

at pictures the other day I noticed mom wearing her collar a lot.

Definitely keep up with the neck massages as much as possible it will

help delay it getting worse and brought tremendous relief. It was

really only one the the things we could do to make her life happy.

We would spend hours nightly adjusting her pillow to the slightest

degree over and over again. There was also a cervical collar I can't

remember what it was called but it had a chin thing that helped lift

her chin up. Her neck was so bad by the time she got it she was

unable to wear it. If you think this would work and she could manage

wearing it let me know and I will look it up to see what it was

called.

If you would refer to post #9127 and a couple of previous and future

ones around that time you will see a post from my mom's neurologist

DR Gibbs. He has been looking into this since Oct 2002 and hopefully

by now he may have more information. I know during mom's last months

he started giving Botox injections in her neck which may have helped

if it was started earlier. I am sure he would correspond with your

mom's neurologist and perhaps they will both benefit from comparisons.

I'm sorry I know this post is a bit jumbled I only had 4 hours sleep

last night and I can't really concentrate so hopefully I am making

sense.

Good luck please try the rice collar or some form of heat it should

work wonders and please keep up the massages as much as possible, it

We can not give my mother robitussin or even sudafed.....it causes the LBD

symptoms to worsen in her till it was out of her system.

Question

My Dad has some wheezing in his right lung for which he is going to be placed

on antibioatics. The Hospice nurse also suggested Robitussin. I just waated to

make sure that it is not contraindicated with LBD. I thought that I read it

should not be given with Parkinson. Does any one know or has anyone had any

experience with giving this cough med?

Thanks for all the great information and I did make the mistake of handling

the appeal myself and they sure walked all over me. I live in Tacoma, WA. and

if I remember correctly you lived in Seattle up until last year. If you could

help with a good attorney that would be awesome.
