Guest guest
Dylan is now in his 8th cast and we are stuck at 54 degrees in cast same number as his 6th 7th and 8th casts. I guess this question is directed at parents who went through casting then onto surgery. What was the determining factor that made you stop casting your child and took the surgical route? I feel in my heart that casting is no longer going to be an option to correct Dylans scoliosis. We go back to SLC in Sept to be recasted and really starting to second guess myself if casting is going to achive anymore correction. I think with my son casting is only to maintain his curve until he is strong enough for surgery. Also have a question about xrays. Dylan has allways had an xray taken after a new cast has been applied. I was wondering why they do not take an xray just before the old cast is removed to see if in fact any correction has taken place. If growth is the corrective force then would it not be more important to take an xray before rather than after? Then in fact you would be more aware if casting is actually working or not. Thanks Darrell
