Guest guest
case of mind over matter isn't it probably similar to the way say yoga or meditation work and fight diseases... there is some research showing actual biological immune markers changed for the better following meditation, to do with vagal nerve stimulation etc.. not saying exactly the same as say Sonrise but similar territory also with kids who recover just like that, we will never know what happened to their bodies, whether they acquired an infection that 'over-rode' the chronic one, whether there has been a change of geomagnetic circumstances etc etc I would say every recovery is biological end of day but different routes of getting there. natasa > > > In a message dated 27/02/2008 12:48:58 GMT Standard Time, bbuyonline@... > writes: > > as many other parents in this group, we are also running a very intensive > home-therapy > programme. and often i come across other parents who are also doing the same > but who are > not supporting with biomedical interventions. ie they are purely running > behavioral or play > therapies. i know and have seen results of children being recovered from > autism without > biomeds. how do you go about explaining these recoveries? > > > > >>Dr Amy holmes did some work on this with brain scans, showing not repair > but new routes through the brain, intensive therapies producing new neuron > growth and going around the blocks. Thing is he is now 13yrs old and obviously still has issues, it's a very long road and probably not until the kids are older can we be sure how it is all going to pan out. My youngest is 10 and has been doing biomed for a good few yrs now, no recovery in sight, clearly not going to just morph into higher functioning more's the pity, but he has made great gains and would never have been able to attend to ABA or any other therapy when he was in so much pain in the early yrs. With gut healing he is now in a position to learn, and he is learning but obviously much further back than his brother was, so I think the main difference to their progress would be the amount of gut issues and pain. Guest guest
This is just something that crossed my mind a couple months ago, but I read an article that talked about how loneliness depressed the immune system and, if I'm remembering correctly, increased inflammation. It occured to me that programs like son-rise and floortime, if they stopped a child from feeling lonely, might actually boost the immune system and reduce inflammation. I think people should be aware that there are some quite compelling, at least to me, stories about kids who have " recovered " through therapy or diet-only interventions, only to regress once puberty hits. Very frightening, IMO. Guest guest
Vicky, I hope you get funding for both children: it should be the identical set of financial information for both children. It drove me nuts filling in the forms!
