Cow share thoughts

Hi All:I will start out by saying that many may not appreciate my words, but they come from months of serious thought on the matter.On a regular basis we are contacted by those looking to start a cow share in Western Canada. Along the way we have had the pleasure of dealing with many great people who are sincere in their conviction to everything a cow share should be and the bigger picture of what they stand for. They want to do it right, and are willing to learn.Then there are the others. They view cow shares as nothing but a proverbial cash-cow. They do not want to put in the time to really learn about dairy. They have absolutely filthy barns. Their idea of feeding would make most want to strangle them. All that matters is pumping that milk out and making a quick buck. They get people onboard as buyers because those that deal with them don't have the hassle of signing a contract, they can buy when ever they want, and for that convenience people are glady turning over $15.00 - $20.00/ gallon.Now for the real delema. In my mind, and based on some disgusting operations I have visited, these people are a danger to everything we stand for and a danger to the future of raw milk here in Canada. They are ticking time bombs that sooner or later WILL make some one sick. Just the thing the health departments need to make a media splash from one end of this country to the other. And no doubt they will emphasize the words "cow share", although these operations are anything but. This has the potential to weaken the cases of those who are fighting in the courts and in the media, to ensure that raw milk remains accessible here in Canada. I realize we want more raw dairy availability here in Canada. But do we turn a blind eye to those who endanger everything we strive to achieve? I have never been a snitch in my life ... But encounters with people like I have described do some days push me to the edge.I would really like to hear some opinions on this.Kurtis
