Hello there everyone! I'm back. I've actually been back for about

two weeks but my head hasn't been with me until recently. The trip

wasn't too bad, actually. Seeing my parents and my sister was

wonderful! The stress on the body going from warm to incredibly cold

wasn't fun (thank G-d for drugs) and flying alone wasn't too awful

but not something I'd do again unless I have to.

I took advise to heart and requested a wheelchair in order to get

around. The first one in PBIA was really funny. They gave me a

wheelchair that fit me but the person pushing was a little old lady

that by the time we got to security I wanted to offer the chair to

her and I'd push. Poor lady was huffing and puffing (I'm not light

weight, let's face it!) and she was perspiring so much it scared me.

In Newark, at least, they gave me a very nice, young man (good

looking too) that looked rather disappointed he had to push me. We

went as far as baggage where my sister met us and I walked from there

to the car with her. I think the man was relieved.

Going back home was another story entirely. I did NOT meet up with

nice people in Newark and did not take the wheelchair, nor was it

offered to me. It was a very quick walk, however, to the terminal.

By the way, the taking off of the shoes thing, though I understand

it, is very inconvenient. Especially for a woman mine size. I was

watched very carefully by security (as though I'm going to be able to

run with my shoes in my hands) while I was putting on my sneakers.

Once again, I was watched by a man that was probably older than my

father with bottle bottom glasses. It was quite likely I could out

run him.

Anyway, I'm happy to be back home, extremely happy to be back on the

message board, and extatic to have survived it all!

Take care and be well and happy holidays gang!

Ellen

Welcome home! I have used the wheelchairs at the airports also, and I must

say I had no problems.....it sure beat trying to get where I was going in

the condition I was in. My first time was when I went to the Stills

Convention (hope to one day be able to afford that again) and once when I

went to visit my best friend in TN.

I'll say one thing for it, it's like an expressway compared to having to

go yourself......not knowing the airports & stuff...this made life easy for

once.

Thanks Kirk, it's good to be home and out of the cold. I'm glad you

take advantage of the wheelchairs. It never occured to me until

someone from the message board said something. I'm so used to doing

things on my own, by my own steam.

I'm hoping to get to the convention one day also. I'd love to meet

everyone, my extended family. But for now, I must go back to bed. I

have to be up and going in an hour and ahallf. It's been a bad night

again.

Take care and be well.

Ann, my dear,

Thank you. And a Merry Christmas to you and everyone else that

partakes in that happy occasion!

I'm heading back to bed. Talk with you tomorrow after work.

Take care and be well.
