Guest guest
Hi All, I am asking this question on behalf of my sister. She just found out that she has a yeast infection. A serious one... She has been complaining about the pain and the discomfort to me for about 4 years now. I continually told her I thought it was yeast. But her stupid doctors would tell her everything aside from yeast and they never even did a pelvic exam. The poor thing just had her 2nd baby 7 weeks ago, and has a new doctor now and was crying and complaining so much that the new guy said he needed to see what was the problem. He said in 27 years or so of being a doctor he has never seen such a bad case of yeast infection. He has given her Diflucan and wants her to take one pill per week for at least three weeks and then come back in. Her baby was nursing, but got thrush so badly that the doctor said to quit nursing. Her baby was a premie, only 4 pounds and I think she needs to keep nursing, but don't want to give her the wrong advise. Also, her son has something wrong too. My sister thinks it is also yeast, but when she took him in (he is 3) to see the doctor, the doctor said that it was just a dry rash, and she didn't even look at him. It is only his penis area that is affected and she said he says it hurts to pee and that he is always itching it and saying it's itching me, mommy. He is a very intelligent little boy and you can have a full conversation with him about almost anything, so he responds well to any questions she asks him regarding it. My question is, does yeast present itself in the same way for boys and for children? Is it likely that her son has a yeast infection, since she does and her baby does, and since she showers with both her kids and shares food and cups with them? Is there any other way to treat the baby, then stopping nursing and giving it some oral medication when it is so little? I know this topic is constantly talked about, but I don't have enough time right now to go back and search the archives for specifics and I couldn't find what I was looking for today. Please let me know and I will forward on to her, whatever you guys tell me. Guest guest
Hi Esther, She should definitely not stop breast feeding! I have a comprehensive treatment plan for both her and the baby and I will e-mail you after I get in bed when I have more time to write. The 3-year-old definitely sounds like he's got yeast overgrowth too. On Sep 20, 2008, at 7:21 PM, Esther wrote: > Hi All, > > I am asking this question on behalf of my sister.
