Guest guest
I don't have all of my lab results that I have taken in the last four years , but the lowest one that I have for K is 3.7. This was obtained with a blood draw that was done to show many other counts. I was also on bp meds at that time. Not sure if that matters though. > > > > > Glenda, when you get aldosterone and renin tests, you should have a > > 24-hour urine at the same time. Guest guest
He says I do not have an endocrine hormonal problem. I have a left sided adenoma & anxiety is his diagnosis. He advised me to not take lisinopril and didn't prescribe any other bp drug, but he did prescribe Xanex. When he returned my call last night because I wanted a clearer explanation of the test results he was brief and to the point and never even mentioned to me to come back. As far as looking cushingoid, I do have more fat in my belly than anywhere else, but even when I was 40 lbs. heavier the test for cortisol was on the low side. > > > > > > > When I had the alsosterone/renin test I was on a good diet, but > > not > > > > too strict about my salt intake. Guest guest
i am gonna give a suggestion i always takd alot of heat for but. . . . .IF you are always bringing up weight, and i realize it is important and a major concern, that this may be the reason he rfuses to address hormonal causes. Not sayin it is right. In a normal clinic it feels sometime like every middle aged woman no longer at their HS grad weight wants hormonal validation for the change. like the er doc who thinks anyone in pain is a drug seeker so a few bad apples spoil it for the rest. if weight is the big concern leave it out and see if their tude changes > >He says I do not have an endocrine hormonal problem. Guest guest
Glenda,I take both and I think both help, but I think lowering the salt in your diet will be the quickest way for you to lower your bp.40 yo WF, 5 kids,Marine Corps wife, L adenoma producing aldo, unable to sample R with AVSTo: hyperaldosteronism Sent: Tue, May 17, 2011 1:24:38 PMSubject: Question about Supplements Has anyone used hawthorn berries and/or magnesium to control their blood pressure? I have used it with seemingly some improvement and far less side effects than all the bp meds I have used. But then there are those sudden spikes that I have and the anxiety that goes with it that are so frustrating. I plan to go to another doctor and ask to be tested correctly for aldosterone/renin. I don't want to delay any tests being on the wrong med and/or supplements. Would it be okay to be on the hawthorn berries and magnesium? Or if I can't see a specialist right away should I go to maybe my primary doctor and ask him to put me on spiro? Meanwhile, I have started on the DASH diet.
