Guest guest
Pains and lethargy can also be linked with Low vitamin D levels.. so very common in countries with little winter sunshine..Tracey NT 7 y.o DD has not been herself lately. She's had pains in the joints of her legs and arms and has been extremely tired but some nights she cannot sleep until 11pm. She's so exhausted she's been asking for her little brothers melatonin! She's had this for a while and I thought she had growing pains but it's gotten worse recently. Anyway , she had a tick bite back in August and it was very red around the area so they gave her antibiotics. I thought about that and went to the doc today to get her tested for Lyme as they are very familiar with it here in Sweden (we have loads of tics). They said that a blood test will show her level of antibodies and if elevated they will test again in 3 weeks to see if they go up which would show an infection. Does that sound right to those of you that have had testing for Lyme done? I'm totally unfamiliar with how they do it and just wanted to know if this method of testing is reliable? I hope DD just has growing pains! Thanks in advance,
Guest guest
, There is a good group for Lyme issues @ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism/ We had a bulls eye rash here intermittently for years but could not get anyone to take it seriously.[i wish I had pictures of that now!] My daughter is mid 20s. Testing last year via Igenex showed positive bands for Lyme. The Western Blot is what is used here but traditionally not all the bands are tested so many false negatives appear. Igenex is one lab that tests more bands so you are more likely to get a better picture of yes/no. However, many say that the symptoms pattern alone should be treated as the alternative is serious. Some info @ http://lymeinducedautism.com/images/Burrascano_guidelines_2008.pdf Two adult groups that have been helpful are http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lymestrategies/ and http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lyme_Rife/ This last group has info on a salt/vitC protocol that we're beginning. The symptom pattern you describe fits with what adults describe - just total wipeout, pain and yet unable to get restful sleep. One thing that the Lyme-autism group has said is that those little Lyme bugs are good at finding niches in one's body and can avoid detection. They recommend 'provoking' before testing so that the bugs come out and are in the radar of the immune system. That way, the byproducts/bugs themselves are detectable via testing.[that's my unscientific phrasing]. My daughter had been on Azithr for Pandas control so I just considered that the provoker. The list has other suggestions for otc agents. > > > > > > > NT 7 y.o DD has not been herself lately. Guest guest
Thank you for the replies , Isobel and Tracey. I'm really hoping that they can detect Lyme here if she has it as they deal with so many cases every year. I appreciate the links, thanks and will take a good look at them. Admittedly, DD is low on vitamins and fish oils. It's so easy to forget the rest of the family and take their health for granted when you put so much time and energy into the recovery of just one member. It's wrong yes and it's a good wake up call for me.Isobel, can I please ask what mct oils are? Thanks again, Subject: Re: Lyme? To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Date: Wednesday, January 26, 2011, 5:16 AM hello have you looked at tami duncan s site liafoundation.org lymes[she also brought out a book i was looking at in the nutri centre last week! can be reduced dramatically with high dose vitamin c and pure salt I read in a book a long time ago... or borrellia group on yahoo is fabulous they can answer so many questions on lymes!
