Guest guest
Thanks Donna, I think I will get some plain yogurt and maybe add some applesauce for flavor. The thought of eating anything sweet hurts my throat and salt does too. Plus, i have no appetite at all. It's sad that the medicine I need to reduce the inflammation in my Optic nerve is causing me to get this yeast infection in my mouth and throat. I'm also having some sinus pressure and pain issues....oh well, I would do it again in a heart beat if it meant getting my vision back faster! JenSubject: Jen - yogurt, etc.To: exercisevideos Date: Friday, July 23, 2010, 7:27 AM Hi Jen, On the yogurt issue - my best advice would be to go with plain yogurt (no flavors, no sugars) and add a little bit of your own fresh fruit or frozen fruit. I am not an expert on yeast infections but I believe the sugared/fruited yogurts, b/c of the sugar in them, do not do much to combat yeast overgrowth (the sugar in the yogurt will "feed" the yeast). So, to get the best in terms of probiotics from the yogurt, I'd go w/ plain and add either a bit of fresh fruit, frozen fruit or even a squirt of honey or fruit preserves - adding your own sugar/fruit will still result in less sugar overall than if you buy the fruited type of yogurt. I am really sorry about your mouth/throat. When I'm under stress (or eat certain foods or use toothpaste with SLS - I'm pretty sure I have an allergy to that!) I can get canker sores and a rash in my mouth, and, depending on where they are in your mouth, it can be really painful to eat/drink/talk. So, I understand how hard it is to eat. This past May/June I had a lot of stress at work and really had a bad outbreak for a few weeks and I was having trouble eating things that were solid, pointy or salty. Fortunately, as the stress reduced so did the outbreak. I have heard that Lysine is good for mouth sores, but not sure if it would work for thrush. Also, B vitamins. I'm fairly sure I'm close to a B vitamin deficiency since I tend to eat vegetarian most of the time and I think I miss a good amount of vitamin B in that I only eat meat once a week. I do take a supplement though and that seems to help. Not sure if these will help w/ thrush though!Take care, Donna
