Judy, please don't stress about CLX - you, Jen, Stacey and I will all finish at different times.  You have to listen to your body to prevent injuries!  The puppers need you! While I am totally a cat person, I like dogs too and dog shows are WAY more fun than cat shows because of YOUR agility competitions!  I love those!  I saw a doxen do one, they lowered the bar for the little buddy to jump over and it was so damn cute I almost cried.

I agree but I don't think they teach home economics and these ideas anymore.I admit to purchasing big bulk stuff from Costco (boneless chicken breasts, brown rice etc) that I use all the time..

I think most people eat out more than they realize.. I like you always bring my food to work saves so much!!!so I still can't workout..very sore from being taken out by my dog sunday.. did walk 60 min and stretched but will have to take it easy - I am competing every weekend this month.. hope to go back to CLX next week

While this is all true, if you are a smart shopper you can do it.  I shop where the poor people shop (Winco) and while I can't afford to buy organic at the farmers' markets or anything I can eat very healthy for cheap at Winco!

For example, it's tempting to buy pre cleaned and torn lettuce with Fresh Epress bagged lettuce, the fact is you can buy a whole head of romaine for $1.19 and make 5 salads with it.  Grape tomatoes $2.49 for a big container at Trader Joes, a yellow onion at 49 cents a pound or less and some yummy fat free dressing from Trader Joes and you have salads for the week for cheap!

Fresh Express on sale might be 2 smallish bags for $5.  You're better off spending the time making it yourself and getting more bang for your buck!Brown rice is cheap.  Sweet Potatoes are cheap.  Tilapia is cheap, almost no carbs and high in protein.

A bag of boneless skinless chicken breasts at Winco is around $7.  I'm sure it's not free range or anything, but if you're on a budget ( I basically haven't gotten a raise in 3 years, meanwhile my house payment goes up and I'm single, doing this all on one income by myself...)

Nonfat cottage cheese and yogurt and Winco are cheap too, and I'm sure you all have a Winco equivalent in a city near you if you don't live in a city! It's just easier to grab the cheaper junk food sometimes.   When Mc's has a special for two Big Macs for $3.50 that's hard to pass up, I get it, but when you look at the calorie stats.... YIKES!

yes!!!! it is in fact one of my masters student did her thesis on this and it was much more expensive to follow food pyramid, low fat... diet

Videos] Food prices, too

As long as we're venting, it really gripes me how expensive it is to eat healthy!! Fresh fruits and veggies aren't cheap no matter where you live, and it's so much easier and cheaper just to grab the chips or doughnut and feel full on that. Soft drinks are the real killer, too. I think they ought to tax " high fructose corn syrup " like crazy to help pay for medicare.

My hubby doesn't work out, but he's the Food Police in our house. He frowns at me if I take a second helping, and he give my poor (TT diabetic) mom grief for wanting desserts. (Mom's got Alzheimer's and she and Dad live with us.) He does a much better job at cooking low fat, nutritious meals than I ever would.

Subsidize fruits and veggies! Tax high fructose corn syrup!

Off my soapbox now...

yea... I have to be able to run.. the cool thing about agility is you do have different heights.. there is a really fast little dog that jumps 8in nationally that is actually faster than any big dogs...I think I am going to do a week (maybe 2) of pilates and yoga and then get back to it.......To:

Winco is my favorite store on the planet. I spend hours in the bulk section there. My family never wants to go with me when I go there cuz I take so long there. They also have my morningstar farms products there. It's a health food lovers paradise and at great prices. And ours is in the same parking lot as Costco so I get the best of both when I go into Fresno, Trader Joes and whole foods are about a block away. Of course it's an hour and half drive for me to get there.
