Guest guest
Sometimes my child is not himself when he has a fever or is on certain meds. Often he is more verbal and 'on' with a fever...it seems to give him clarity. I don't know how to explain the bow leg walking. Did he take antibiotics? Could he have a yeast rash because of it? Hope he feels better soon. HELP!!! I am freaking out! My son, Gabe, had a high, unexplained fever last Friday night (104). I took him to the Dr. the following morning and nothing was found that could explain the fever. He had a low-grade fever off and on the rest of the weekend and then his symptoms (minor congestion) lessened. He has had a light cough throughout the week (worse at night) and that also seems to be better. TODAY - he woke up with another low fever and acting very tired. He is also a little congested. He layed around most of the morning and at times seemed to walk " funny " - bold-legged with his knees bent. Hand flapping has increased and also he just moves his fingers in an odd manner (new). He has repeated verbal " phrases " that he would do a year ago and we thought he had lost them. (He is nonverbal). He took a long nap and since waking he is walking in that odd - bow-legged manner almost all the time. It's as if he can barely walk. He has also turned his arms in an unusual manner a few times. What is going on?????????? Guest guest
Is he on any medications or could it be an allergic reaction to something? My daughter got a bad case of bronchitis a couple of weeks ago that sounds like what your son is going through. Her behaviors deteriorated and she was lethargic. Did your doctor check for a virus or bacterial infection? Aliza HELP!!! I am freaking out! My son, Gabe, had a high, unexplained fever last Friday night (104). Guest guest
Staci, Years ago when my son was younger he had what we called mystery fevers. One time he had them for about 3 weeks before they ran a blood test which showed strep. Throat swabs didn't pick it up nor did the culture that takes a few days. Odd finger movements, hand flapping & verbal stims were also a sign of strep for my children so you may ask for a blood test if this keeps up. I am not really sure what the funny walking could be??? Maybe his joints are stiff from whatever it is that is going on? It is frustrating when our children can't tell us what is wrong. Please keep us posted and I hope that Gabe will get better soon. I did bring up his recent strep infections to the Dr. - I initially thought that his new behaviors could be attributed to that, but I don't think that's the case this time. Thanks so much for the responses!!! I feel better and am just going to keep a close eye on him for now... -- Peace, Staci http://gabesjourney-gabesmom.blogspot.com/

Guest guest
>Hi My son must have the same thing. His symptons are practically the same except he had a seizure before his high fever. He has missed an entire week of school because of the cough and exhaustion. He was dizzy and almost falling down one day. He was prescribed an antibiotic and seems to be getting a little better. I think he is in pain from the congestion and constant coughing because he is pinching me and wants to be hugged very tightly. He is still home from school and I have a call into the dr. to get him a cough medication. Good luck. > I am freaking out! My son, Gabe, had a high, unexplained fever last Friday > night (104). Guest guest
I have been wondering about a possible seizure related to all of this... Can anyone tell me based upon my initial concerns if this is something that sounds like he could have had a seizure? I think I will call our neurologist today. > > > >Hi > My son must have the same thing. His symptons are practically the > same except he had a seizure before his high fever.
