According to a recent study, it appears that many of these individuals have

higher levels of Bufotenin within the urine. The Wikipedia article explains the

substance, along with a reference to the study.

Bufotenin is a psychedelic substance which occurs naturally in certain toads,

seeds and Amanita mushrooms. The effects on human beings are not known very well

to most people, since it has not been studied to full effect. I believe that

because of this discovery, the substance may be a key to delivering

understanding of us to many people around the world. No wonder some of us can

see patterns within information, texture within nature and colour in language.

What makes me rather sad, is that they only talk about hyperactivity and

violence associated with naturally psychedelic human beings, such as me.

I had a high-functioning level of autism since before I was born. I had problems

with many aspects of everyday life, because I had always felt this channel of

spiritual communication flowing within my mind. Education never seemed to match

my personality very well. It was like content was being dumped onto me without a

reason for learning it. My imagination was rather interesting - I was able to

read, write and speak very quickly, as well as learn maths and computing without

hassle, and also experiencing highly resonant feelings when listening to music.

Then again, this could answer many questions relating to autism and finally

bring the truth to the eyes of the population. What we have right now is merely

a conducted experiment and my understanding of the matter. It is a strong one

which I hope to see the future of.

That is quite interesting - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20150873 or

http://node.nel.edu/?node_id=9912 - but it is only 15 people with severe ASD, 15

with schizophrenia and 18 controls.

It is not clear if mammals absorb the compound or synthesize it -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bufotenin, although either would be meaningful if

it was confirmed as a feature of autism.

I understand. Seems interesting to me too. So far, this seems to be the most

accurate thing that may be the cause. It turns out that serotonin gets converted

to dimethyl-serotonin or bufotenin. This will probably disprove a lot of

meaningless theory circulating out there.

But something annoys me even more. Why was bufotenin made a Class A drug in the

UK in the 70s? Clearly there has been no harm living with it for the last 20

years. Would I be subject to arrest if they found out I was naturally producing

it? Probably not yet, but laws may change if needed. I would strongly forgive

the government if they even consider a reform, but with the

Conservatives/LibDems in place, that's most likely a no-go.

As it is now, this is all just speculation. I'd be surprised if this were to be

true. All that's left to do is wait and see what happens.

I heard Shattock talk about it about 8 years ago.
