Guest guest
Gotta buy Henry a new one and don't have very much to spend. I remember Tracey said IKEA were good for latex mattresses. Would latex/foam mattresses have an awful lot of chemical fire retardants in them, as opposed to mattresses with some springs? I am tossing up between a sprung bed and sprung base as there is no doubt that this is the most comfortable arrangement, or a latex mattress without springs becasue of the electromagnetic conductivity of the springs. He is a big boy and is going to be a very big and heavy adolescent soon and needs a mattress and base with some " meat " to them. He likes pocket sprung beds rather than his current slatted base. (The boy has taste - he ate most of a Tomme de Savoie cheese which I had hidden today - so he'll be even fatter...) Any suggestions, please? I can't buy a vastly expensive organic bed. Guest guest
we have a sprung bed for my boy and i bought a wool mattress topper - fit it well and was really thick - I hope the topper stopped some of the 'vapours' and at least stopped my son's skin coming into contact with the anti flame heavy metal stuff. but i might have been fooling myself. before that, i had a straw mattress for him unfortunatley he grew out of it - it was REALLY comfortable - wouldnt be that hard to do to get a ulphostery shop to 'stuff' a mattress for you - full of wool, or straw or some such. > > > > Gotta buy Henry a new one and don't have very much to spend. Guest guest
Dear MargaretThe latex ones have been brilliant with no smell at all on them.. Tatijana has coped well.. We would never buy sprung again... Ikea also do some bases with drawers in them... and we have always found much less smell with Ikea than other companies. They do deliver... so this is good too...Tracey we have a sprung bed for my boy and i bought a wool mattress topper - fit it well and was really thick - I hope the topper stopped some of the 'vapours' and at least stopped my son's skin coming into contact with the anti flame heavy metal stuff. but i might have been fooling myself. before that, i had a straw mattress for him unfortunatley he grew out of it - it was REALLY comfortable - wouldnt be that hard to do to get a ulphostery shop to 'stuff' a mattress for you - full of wool, or straw or some such. > > > > Gotta buy Henry a new one and don't have very much to spend.
