I'm starting a weekly series on incense. This week the focus

in on photos, other weeks I'll write about the history, use,

extraction processes, etc.

Slow down the pace, meditate and enjoy some eye candy of the

frankincense trees, windblown, hunkered down, surviving for

thousands of years as one of the most beloved fragrance plants,

and recognized as the first fragrance plant used by people.

Storing all the solar energy in the thick trunks and branches,

living in arid, hot conditions, the magical resin the trees

produce were first used in fires and then incense censers. How I

love frankincense! I include an exquisite essential oil of

frankincense frereana in aromatics kit #1 for my students.
