Guest guest
Hi Fellow KT'ers, The past couple of years my teeth cleaning sessions with my hygienist have been unbearable for me, and her. She said that my teeth shouldn't be so sensitive and I agree. I left my last appointment with her words repeating in my mind, which set my mind into analytical overdrive. The only thing I've done different and consistently for the past 3-4 years is the consuming of KT. I told her about my KT consumption. She didn't know what it was, so I explained that it was fermented tea. She said " acidic " , and I said yes, BUT alkalizing to the body - like lemons. She said that when the teeth are exposed to a steady stream of acidic liquid or sweet drinks(sipping an entire bottle of KT or sugary drinks) it could be enough to make the teeth sensitive, or in the case of sweet drinks, decay. (A friend whom I turned on to KT went to the dentist for a check up and he found several cavities and asked what she'd been doing to cause that - I always felt that she left her KT a little too sweet). I'm wondering if any of you are having the same issue with sensitive teeth around the gum line and between the teeth, or cavities. I now drink my KT with a straw and making sure I swallow it without letting it wash over my teeth first. The other thing I've noticed with KT consumption is restless legs syndrome, which I've been afflicted with for years. I got the RLS under control to where I din't have it anymore while using BioPlasma cell salts. I was using it for something else and noticed that while taking it and taking it before bed that I wasn't bothered with RLS that night. I also began making and drinking coconut water kefir, which is loaded with minerals. The RLS went away seemingly permanently and without taking BioPlasma salts before bed. I ran out of coconut water kefir, finally, and kicked up the KT use and noticed that the RLS is back. It wakes me up sometime after I've fallen asleep. I get up and take the BioPlasma salts and it goes away right away. I've deduced that RLS seems to be related to mineral deficiency, or it goes away with mineral supplementation, but not oral mineral supplementation (cell salts are delivered on a cellular level sublingually). When I researched KT to great extent before I began making it, I read that it potentially leached the body of minerals. I think this may be the case. I'm keeping the KT consumption to a minimum - 4-6oz 2x/day. But am having to take BioPlasma as well(am currently making more coconut water kefir). Sugar consumption causes mineral loss to bones. I wonder if it's the sugar in the KT that is causing the mineral loss to bones, or if it's something else in the KT. I look forward to any thoughts you all might have. Guest guest
Hello Kathleen I cannot help you with the first part of your question regarding tooth problems. I can definitely help with the RLS. I can tell you, having suffered it myself, that it is brought on my lack of magnesium. I had the RLS with the added problem of severe leg cramps. I did some research and found that taking magnesium would help. And it did, big time! I notice that if I stop taking magnesium, the RLS comes back. I have also noticed that it is worse after taking sugar products. The more sugar I consume, the more magnesium I have to take. I found that sugar leaches magnesium from the body, so this makes sense. I don't know but, could a high sugar content of your Kombucha be the problem with your teeth, too? I drink mine when it is pretty acidic and almost all the sugar has gone. Guest guest
I have to echo the recommendation by Pangie for the use of magnesium for RLS. I had unbearable RLS that is completely gone now that I have increased my magnesium. I take powdered mag citrate as it is more readily absorbed by the body than say, mag oxide or eveb mag chloride. (of the two, mag chlor is best...mag citrate is better yet.) As far as your teeth and gums, I have no advice except that I think your drinking your KT with a straw should help immensely. By the way, I am not sure what the co-relation to RLS drinking KT might have, but my husband once downed a whole quart of KT and ended up with the most excruciating muscle aches he has ever experienced. I believe it was due to detox and now limit my silly boy to half a cup a day. Guest guest
Maybe rinse your mouth with water after consuming KT? I know that the raw food folks I know suffer from acid errosion of the enamel from eating so much citrus. They are told to rinse after eating citrus. Guest guest
Hi Pangie, I also drink my KT more acidic than sweet due to candida issues. I'm thinking that the leaching affects of sugar are still present in acidic KT, somehow, even though the tea tastes sour. Guest guest
Hi Deb, Sounds like your hubby was close to being mineral deficient when he down so much KT. These accounts give me the impression that KT does indeed help deplete minerals. I can't help but think that RLS is a symptom of the beginning stages of something very dangerous - bone loss due to loss of minerals. I'd hate to see all of us KT drinkers elderly with brittle and breaking bones. That would be awful. Guest guest
Hello Pangie Mmmmm.... You know I've always wondered exactly how much sugar is left in my brew, even when it tastes vinegary (which I am happy to drink that way). I, too, suffer with candida. However, I believe that the negative of drinking a little sugar are outweighed by the huge benefits of the Kombucha. Still, it does worry me about the affects on my teeth. Maybe I should think about drinking it through a straw, too. Guest guest
Good point, Kathy. That's why I put out this message - to see if anyone else is having these symptoms. I followed my doctors protocols for cleansing and detox, spending nearly $20,000 on products (good products). I became well again. However, by the time I got to the point of repairing the damage I could not keep up with the expense. There is definitely candida always ready to rear it's ugly head but only refined sugar in KT does it. I guess because there's so much sugar that goes into it and it fermenting makes it worse. Fruit does not cause any symptoms, such as gas but KT does by morning if it is even a tad on the sweet side. So, now that I find that no one else is having these issues then I should look to find what is causing the mineral loss. I would like to do the GAPS diet but it's too expensive for me right now. Perhaps later down the road and maybe it will help with consuming KT without affects. Guest guest
Thanks, . I am gluten sensitive. I don't consume a lot of gluten products, or even a small amount thereof. I need to do the GAPS diet, for sure. Guest guest
Thanks, , for your feedback. I wonder if drinking KT from a straw would help. I like your baking soda/water ready-to-use solution. I'll give that a try. Kathleen > > I too discovered since drinking ACV and KT I had 3 cavities at my last > dental appt. That was shocking!! Guest guest
Long ago I wanted to use baking soda on a daily basis but read not to that it can damage the enamel if used daily. I'm using toothpaste and when I think about it I use Pascalite clay, which is awesome. I'll step up the Pascalite to daily use and see if that helps. I read that baking soda 3x/week is OK. There must be so little of baking soda in the commercial Arm & Hammer baking soda toothpaste. Kathleen > > > I too discovered since drinking ACV and KT I had 3 cavities at my last > > dental appt. Guest guest
kathleen I am very sorry to hear that after 20,000$ you have not healed completely. : ( Please know that GAPS is not very expensive. If you can buy beef and chicken, carrots, cabbage, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. you can DO the GAPS diet. I know of people healing on GAPS using no other probiotic than sauerkraut and cultured dairy. Look to Baden for encouragement...she had much success with her son on a limited budget. http://gapsguide.com/category/budget-gaps/ Blessings Kathy > > > > > > > > > ** > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello Kathleen > > > > > > > > > > I cannot help you with the first part of your question regarding tooth > > > > > problems. > > > > > > > > > > I can definitely help with the RLS.
