Guest guest
I found this online at Bed, Bath and Beyond.. If you will pardon me the pun.. BEYOND ideal for continuous brewing  (CB)  http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=18415305 ________________________________ To: original_kombucha Sent: Wednesday, January 11, 2012 3:03 PM Subject: Re: Glass Brewing Containers  I just want to second Bev's suggestions. The 2-gallon Anchor Hocking cookie jar is perfect for kombucha batches, I use a couple of those much more often than I use jars with spigots. And definitely anytime you can reuse glass vessels, it's better for our planet and its inabitants! :-) Vicki in Orlando > > Hi EveryOne, > > While the glass brewing containers from some online sites are very > nice, they are not necessary. Guest guest
Thanks for the tip, this does look very nice. Quite reasonably priced too! I was looking for round, but i don't suppose the scoby will mind square The texture effect on the side is cool. It's really not easy finding good CB vessels, we searched for a while and were finding too small, or expensive, high shipping costs, etc. I'm thinking of ditching the stand and just sliding it to the edge of the counter to tap off KT. Now i have a challenge for you if you're up to it: the only thing needed now is a " beyond ideal " heater I may go up to town today and visit bbb and get a CB setup started finally! Thx again. - Woody
Guest guest
That's a really good price, what store did you find it at? Guest guest
I finally bought a CB vessel for $20 at Bed Bath and Beyond. It looks just about exactly like the one from amazon below except it comes with a metal stand. It had a chromed look spigot, but i replaced it with a much nicer spigot from a link posted on this list previously. It's 2-1/2 gallons, i was really looking for 3 but settled for this. Started brewing over the weekend. I'm excited to now be doing CB, can hardly wait till it's ready to tap. Woo hoo!!! - Woody Subject: Re: Glass Brewing Containers To: original_kombucha Date: Wednesday, January 18, 2012, 9:33 AM  The Del Sol and Splash brand dispensers have chrome-look spigots but they are plastic. No worries here! > > > > I really appreciate all the great info on brewing containers. I found the following: > > > > This one is 2.6 gallons, $27.99 + $7.48 shipping. Guest guest
I'm not sure if this item is online or not, they had a 4 gallon one online i was drooling over but they didn't have it in their stores locally (Kansas City area). Online and local selection may be different. The thing i like about getting these things locally is shipping can be a lot, especially for larger ones (and i'm cheap . - Woody
Guest guest
Could you share more about the spigot you switched to? > ** > > > I'm not sure if this item is online or not, they had a 4 gallon one online > i was drooling over but they didn't have it in their stores locally (Kansas > City area). Guest guest
Sure, it was posted by Lyn to this list on Dec 10 2011. These are great, i think they'll last forever and never give a problem. There's nothing to get plugged up, it's straight through like a smooth pipe till the end where the stopper is on the outside on the bottom. And no metal that would ever touch the tea (there is a spring inside but not in the path of the liquid). This place was nice to order from, i just got a couple of spigots and the shipping was very reasonable and quick. Here's the reference from the post: I was being thick. I had wanted to attach a picture of the spigot and since that didn't work, my brain stopped thinking. But now I remembered to five the link, so here it is. http://www.axner.com/search.aspx?find=plastic+spigot

Guest guest
You're welcome. Just make sure you get it reeeeeel tight. I played with my brew over and over trying to get it so that it would not seep tea and I finally got it tight when I finally put it on the floor and then I had the right angle to get it tight, because it has not leaked since then. Guest guest
I was wondering if i could ask a small favor, could you measure the height and diameter of the vessel? I couldn't find measurements on the web page. I initially wanted this vessel but like the 2.5 gallon one i'm using. It's small enough to easily fit under the cabinet where i'm brewing batches of kombucha. I'm thinking of getting another one or two of those so i can do more experimentation. If the 4.7 gallon one fits i'll probably get one of those for my main CB vessel. - Woody Subject: Re: Glass Brewing Containers To: original_kombucha Date: Thursday, January 26, 2012, 3:33 PM I just bought this 4.7 gallon glass dispenser from Bed, Bath & Beyond for $49.99, free shipping. I live an hour away from the store, so I just called, they ordered it for me online, and waived the shipping...
