Thanks for the input Diane, I am with you, I would rather put up with the pain

than itching. Have a call into my Rheumy, so I will see what she has to say. I

have used both thighs, stomach, and rearend on both sides. Can not bring myself

to get it in my arms yet. I let my shot warm up just a bit and then give it and

it reduce the pain some.

Take Care,

Subject: Kineret reaction

Hi ,

Since my last flare up over Christmas, I have been off the Kineret...it made me

itch like crazy..I still have welts where the injection sight was at..Big time

OUCH! The welts have gone down a lot though but only since I stopped using it..I

alternated thighs and found it didnt hurt.'as much' when I was injected higher

on my thighs..I hope you have better luck with it than me...I tried every lotion

and salve, prescription or not, under the sun, why i could open my own

pharmacy..and not one thing helped for the itching..i said i would rather be in

pain than itching (which now i am) and i am better off...good luck!

Diane..42

p.s. someone asked how often we go to the Dr.??  I see the rheumatologist every

month!

I go again this monday..my hands wrists are hurting very bad...

p.p.s. it snowed here last night...Kirk, where is your plow now!!

-Kineret Users,

This morning I woke up around 3:00am and all my injection sites where whelped up

and I have hives even in places where there were no injections. I have been on

Kineret for 9 days, I just wonder if anyone else has had these reactions, and if

they were any that were delayed as long as mine are?

The place that I gave the first shot 9 days ago whelped last night also.

Taking Benadryl for the itching and I have already left a message for my Rheumy.

Any feed back would be appreciated.

Everyone take care,

I let the shot warm up for 90 minutes and sometimes iced the sight...no help...I

didn't use the stomach because I saved that sight for the diabetic shots I had

to give myself -steroid induced hyperglycemic- never did it in my arms..

they kept saying the itching was dry skin, exema, psoriasis...no way...I say it

was the reaction of my body to kineret...and now that I am off of it, no more

itching...just a medicine cabinet full of lotions and potions!

I agree again that its not just dry skin, or any of the other skin diagnosis.

Besides I have hives right now that are popping up in places where I have not

given an injection, to weird.

My Daughter did exactly the same thing. She did not have a reaction at all with

her first batch I don't what whether that was one or two weeks and then has a

reaction. Her doctor was very surprised and actually called a few people about

it and all they concluded was that maybe the initial batch was not good. She did

go through several weeks like you are describing and then it all went away. I

hope Kineret helps you. I think it helped her. She is off it now and is trying

Remicade which  does not seem to be working so they may put her back on Kineret

with a little tweaking.

I wish you the best,

Lea

Hi ,

I don't post often but I have had my fair share of Kineret reactions. I was

actually taken off of it because the reaction was so bad and I am back on again.

My reaction did come up after about day #7- but if you stick with it it will

eventually go away meaning like 6 weeks. I see Dr. Cush and he

had to convince me to get on Kineret again with Methotrexate and the itching

started to subside and the reactions are healing. I had initially been told to

take the shot after a shower but Dr. Cush suggested I take it at night (no

shower- so skin pores will be closed), ice and take the shot at

room temp. I found this really helped- I had to change my routine to shower in

the morning but it has helped. Best of luck to you.

Hi ,

Thanks for the info, I am waiting for my Rheumatologist to call back, talked to

her once and she wanted to check on something and she would call me back. I

emailed her pictures a little while ago, she was going to do this over the phone

since we are a little over an hour away. Only problem is I am breaking out in

hives in other places besides the injection sites, that is what is concerning

her.

Did your daughter have that problem also?

I only got injection site reactions, never hives elsewhere. When I first

started Kineret, the site reactions were about 2 " wide, and quite firm. It

eventually got better with a little " witches brew " mixture of

benedryl/hydrocortisone/oatmeal to my injection sites, right after the shot. Its

good you called your rheumy, the hives are a bit concerning.

Good Luck,

Nissa

Thanks Nissa,

I would not be to concerned if it was just the injection sites, but my forearms

have hives and lower legs, itching is horrible. I guess what surprised me was

that this all started last night, that even injection sites from 9 days ago have

been fine until 2:00 this morning, heck of a way to wake up.

the itching and fevers is what makes me most crazy about this disease- I have

tried every lotion under the sun- if anyone has something that has worked please

let me know- I am still dealing with an irritation patch.

Hey ,

How long did it take for the reactions to get better?

I just warm mine up because it takes the burning away as I inject the med. Just

a comfort thing for me.

Is there any other reason besides comfortability that you warm up the

Kineret? It seem, for me, the Injection Site Reactions have stopped, and I

don't have any adverse reactions to it, anymore, fortunately. Still havent

seen anything good, though.
