Guest guest
>I find it very upsetting, because I think Atkins really understood a LOT about a certain type of metabolic problem, and god knows this eating plan has completely changed my life. I might even say SAVED it. So I hate seeing it bastardized and altered out of recognition. But I have no clue what anyone can do to stem the tide. > >Christie When something changes one's life, usually you will be understandably grateful! But humans have a way of eventually gravitating toward WHAT WORKS. Which, my prediction is, is a meat/vegie/fruit paleo type diet (which is a lot lower in carbs than the average SAD diet). Which is pretty close to the Atkins ideal for maintenance. So the tide WILL go the best direction, eventually. In the meantime, all your posts will help (BTW I got on this group as a result from one " diehard " mentioning that most GF foods are JUNK and mentioning Nourishing Traditions on that list). As for the WD type diet ... don't worry about it until you need to. Ori allows food except carbs during the " undereating " phase, and if you aren't eating carbs anyway, it doesn't make much difference. In the next few years a lot more research will come to fruition and the whole issue will be much clearer. -- Heidi

I meant to add: Though this book is hardly one that a lot of folks here will get much out of, I'm extremely found of Joe Ortiz' " The Village Baker " and am adapting his practices as much as I can. Anyone interested in " real bread " should have it.
