Sudden drastic improvement in health

In the last two days I have quite suddenly taken a turn for the better,

almost to a ludicrous degree. Choose from:

a) Moving my medication timing from rising to noon;

B) Inadvertently stopping most of my supplements;

c) Eating Heidi's SuperKefiili almost every day;

d) Eating raw organic eggs daily;

e) Drinking bone broth every day this week;

f) Getting my glasses fixed;

g) The settling of the weather into a fixed pattern (ie, consistently

cold);

h) All, some or none of the above :)

Gads, what choices! I think you should start a food/event

diary -- if SOMETHING helped to that great a degree, it

would be nice to pinpoint it quickly!

Hi Lynn

That is great news indeed! Well done - it's great to

see your efforts pay off!

I have also had a great health improvement, but some

things have got worse and I'm not sure why. The most

noticeable up side is a large amount of energy and

very stable moods.

I *do* and that was still as narrow as I could get the possibilities!

:) My uncle, who is an ER doc who's survived 6 heart attacks (and is

agog at my diet but keeping an open mind), suggested I keep a log book

and I have kept it fairly faithfully. I use one of those marbled cover

composition books, nothing fancy but it will hold together so I'll be

able to refer to it in later years. I write down time I woke, how I

feel on waking and what I took, ate or drank on rising, the morning and

evening weather, how many glasses of water I drink, when I take my meds

and supplements and which ones I took, what I eat for each meal and

snack, bowel movements, and a general precis of events and health/mood

changes. I strongly recommend it to anyone trying to track a chronic

health problem. I've never been able to keep a journal, but I can

manage to keep this. It seems to keep me centered.

I'm still feeling pretty well. I've been able to do some laundry and I

had the energy to fold it and put it away, mostly. :) We went to the

last farmers market of the year, even, and I was able to walk in the

cold and not feel like I was going to die, though now at the end of the

day I am POOPED and I still have dinner to fix. But this week it's just

kapow, suddenly I'm a lot better. Weird. It's so weird I very nearly

agree with my personal astrologer (long story how I ended up with a

personal astrologer), who says that my chart is showing I'm moving into

a period of increased energy. :) whatever! I don't care, I'm feeling

better!

Sounds like a nice journal! I like those marbelled books ...

they remind me of chem class.

Well, they're cheap, and I have been notoriously bad at keeping

journals no matter how lovely the book I'm currently trying to write in

is. So this seemed like a good gamble that's paying off. :)

> Great news! Hope today has been a good day as well!

Yesterday and today have not been as good, but it's mostly a sleep

issue; I didn't get enough either day. Today will be a nap day, I can

tell. :)

That's kind of what I'm thinking, too, so I'm going to keep it all up.

I ran out of kombucha last week and hadn't had a chance to make another

batch. I immediately noticed that my (not officially diagnosed) rosacea

has returned; my face is itchy and bumpy again, and the corners of my

mouth are cracking. I've had to cover my face in bag balm! So I've got

a batch going again, finally, and I'll just have to put up with the

itchies until next week, because I'm not about to pay $2.50 for an 8 oz

bottle of kombucha. :P

Thanks for all the good wishes, folks.

Did you mean what I eat in a day, or just the broth?

It's harder to do the bone broth when my husband is home because for

some reason he resists it. But when it's just me and the girls we have

it for breakfast or lunch. My oldest doesn't care for it (she's 6 and

is in the power struggle over food years) but my little 2-yr-old LOVES

it, so I make a big bowl of what I call " Chinese " soup and she and I

eat it together. I usually put Asian noodles of some kind, a raw egg,

pickled veg (usually sauerkraut), and then whatever veggies I have

around--bok choy, green onion, whatever. Then I add whatever flavoring

sounds good that day--sesame oil, oyster sauce, miso, soy sauce,

whatever.

If I'm feeling under the weather or know I need to eat a little

something but have an indifferent stomach I will just make a cup of

broth and put a pat of butter on top. Sometimes I will add a splash of

sherry, not enough to make any difference alcoholically but just to add

the flavor. Often that's my tea time snack to tide me over to dinner,

especially if I haven't had broth for lunch.

If it's been sitting in the fridge a while, I would.

Thanks, and you're welcome!

Hi Lynn,

Great news! Hope today has been a good day as well!

I have this idea that an out-of-kilter system needs several bits of it

nudging in the right direction. When they are all within the " right "

range - bingo! A sharp rise in overall health & energy as they can interact

in a " maximal " way.

So it may be that each of the factors (or many of them) does contribute but

the combined result is greater than the sum of its parts.

Mike - don't know what linguistics you do, but conception actually comes

from my linguistic interests......

Go, Lynn...!!!

Hi Lynn,

I just wanted you to know that I am also happy that you are doing

better! I am another person that is the proud recipent of Heidi's

kefiili grains and I almost live off the stuff and am feeling much

better! My body seems to craves it.

Could you go into more detail about how much you eat and also how

much bone broth you consume in a day. I am having a hard time getting

in the habit of drinking the broth! I made chicken and beef broth on

thursday of last week. I froze half of the beef broth after making

some soup out of the other half. It was all gone in one meal! Now I

have about 8-9 quarts (chicken stock) in my " cold " fridge (30 degrees)

in the basement. It's in glass quart jars but not filled to the top.

I am thinking about putting most of it in the freezer today and just

leaving enough in the fridge for Thanksgiving things. I never froze

in glass jars so I am leary of it breaking.

Should I boil the broth before I use it? I read that somewhere on

here and just double checking.

So, So glad that you are feeling better.

(((((Lynn)))))

I enjoy your website and thanks also for the pie crust recipe!
