Housing : disabled

There isn't any particular list of housing options. For section 8 check HUD, Housing and Urban Development, Texas.

It is just becoming recognized that people with disabilities should be able to access housing options. But, we are far from offering a list.

Some parts of Texas have housing coalitions working on housing for the disabled such as United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) in Austin.

Check your local independent living services office; although, I have not found much help here but might be better elsewhere.

Some branches of the ARC are involved with housing. Our local one isn't at all involved.

DADS doesn't allow an apartment complex to be just devoted to the disabled...individuals must be scattered in different apartment buildings so to experience the community around them.

Sorry, can't help much. Martha
