Guest guest
I was wondering, I see my rheum. dr. every 3 months. I try not to see my gp unless dire need. I am trying to get both to help or admit fatigue is a big deal. Was wondering how often most people see their doc's.

Guest guest
Hey! In answer to your questions: I see my RD every two months and my GP every month....my RD schedules it this way because he is treating me very conservatively after my resort times last summer.....my GP schedules every month because of meds follow-up and he wants to try to keep me away from incidents like last summer.....I like it this way....my GP also leaves an " open door " for me stating that at the very first sign of anything, come see him....my RD is same...hope this helps. Many BLessings! Larry B stillsman
Guest guest
Leon, I see my RD every 8-12 weeks depending on the status of my moste recenent visit. If something is going on that needs monitoring every 8 weeks, if everything has been kewl (which has not happened in a long long time) the 12 weeks (aka 3 months). Her office is always available for calls to check on anything that arises. I see my PCP every 6 months unless something pops up. She keeps an eye on my Lipids and Glucose because of my long term steroid dependency. So far that has been running unusually good (knock on wood lol). I also see my Pulmodude (cute term, eh?) every 3 months unless all hell breaks loose and then usually I would end up seeing him in the resort. I also have Stills/Med related anemia so see my Hematologist about every 3 months. He has blood work every 2 weeks for a Complete Blood Count and Basic Metabolic Panel. Abnormals require me to get a Epogen shot to stimulate my bone marrow. All that and of course, visits to the pharmacy. Tom > > I was wondering, I see my rheum. dr. every 3 months. Guest guest
I see my GP about once a month - sometimes I try my hardest to stretch it to two months, but usually will make no more than 6 weeks. I see my Rheum every 2months, my pain doc every 1-2 months, my ear doc every 3 months (except for the surgery time). I try to avoid it, but I get infections all the time, I have even had occult infections from Kineret, etc. So I go to the GP and she works with my Rheum on that. I get strep throat easily and my glands are swollen a lot so she checks them. pretty pathetic if you ask me. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Mostly it ends up every month in the winter and 5-6wks in the summer. Fatigue is a huge deal - if they don't admit it - you need new docs. both of mine admit it. You need to get b-12 and vit-d checked, after they check it, make sure you take both of them all the time. it will help some. But I still have fatigue. The pain doc I go to put me on ritialin just for the fatigue, the problem was that It made me hurt 10 times more when it wore off. we are trying to figure out what to do. I have a friend that takes ritialin for fatigue and does great with it. everyone is different, but you could always ask about it and see if a small dose helps you. I was on a low dose. Guest guest
I see my RD every 2 months, & sometimes as frequently as every 6 weeks (which becomes an expensive proposition as I live 98 miles from his office)....and I see my GP on average 6+ times per year, plus whenever I'm in the resort as I'm fortunate to have go to a hospital where my GP is allowed to practice. The downside to my GP is that as recently as a year ago there were 2 of them, but one became frustrated with " Insurance Company Bastards " (His words, not mine........and he called them loads of other names that I personally approve of!) and he was only in his mid 50's! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that his partner stays around for a longer time, as I would dread being in the resort without someone who knows me (for over 30 years) and my particular situation without someone like these guys! Besides, my GP is only 8 miles from home, so for the majority of things I see him 1st. I also see a pain management Dr every 45 -60 days, and two other specialists as my list of problems seems to grow by the year, some of them hurt and some of them are just plain embarrassing (along with being a pain in the ass to deal with!)...so no matter how I slice it I wind up with multiple appointments per month....which gets to be tiring but I figure is a necessary evil in lives' such as ours. For those of you who are better off.......thank whichever Deity you pray to....and t those who are worse my thoughts are with you. Kirk. > > > -- Everything in life sucks except things that should! Guest guest
Hi Kirk. Welcome back. You have been missed. I want to say Happy New Year to all the Stilligans and express my heart felt thanks to all of you for being such a support to me and to my family. Stumbling into the world of Stills would have been much more painful and frightening if it wasn't for all of you. I pray 2009 brings some new medicines, new knowledge and some relief (aka remission) for all of you. Take care and God bless. Guest guest
Dear Leon I also have rheumy. appointment every 3 months and if I have problems in between visits, then I am supposed to visit my GP, but I only go if I have to as my GP has no idea about stills and it is as if I am talking a foreign language but if you want to bring your rheumy appointment forward because you can't wait for 3 months then your GP has to write or ring to get you an earlier one, but how she knows if an earlier one is necessary I don't know. Anyway I do think a regular contact with a GP would be a good idea as how you are keeping would then not come to an abrupt halt when you are between hospital visits, so if you have a good GP I would certainly visit her/him to keep the whole picture. Best wishes for the New Year Joan U.K.
