o Raw milk fanatic and consumer. On-farm raw milk sales are allowed for

animal consumption only (I'm a big animal!!!):

Greetings!!! I run a small (8 doe; 1 Jersey cow) dairy in Western NC. I have

been consuming raw milk for over two years now. I love it and I know it's been

beneficial to my health. My daytime food consumption consists of a quart of

yogurt (currently using Piima culture and loving it), and a half gallon of raw

milk (cow or goat) with a couple of raw eggs mixed in. I eat a regular supper.

Lost lots of weight, retained muscle. I'm currently 50 yo and working a very

physical job (new to me, I was doing an office job) and can keep up with the 20

year olds.

We do sell a good amount of milk and milk products for animal consumption. I

make a lot of cheese, use the whey to help pre-digest the grain my cow (and

horse) do eat. We raise a lot of other animals, like pigs, on the milk and

whey. It's a lot of work, but we eat really well.

My goats and cows are fed a primarily forage diet (as best as I can do in the

winter). As far as I know, their food is all non-GMO and mostly local. No soy

products are fed to the milking animals. The cow(s) (we raise some Jerseys for

meat) and goats have access to 10 acres of grass and browse. The goats travel

the 100+ acres that surrounds my property eating and exercising.

I am slowly getting into my line (my breeding) of goats: namely those that

produce at least a gallon of milk per day on minimal grain and are

non-vaccinated. My herd consists of mostly Alpines, with two Oberhaslis and two

Saanen/Alpine Xs.

I believe the quality of raw milk is quite dependent on what the animal consumes

and the quality of life it leads. Every critter that tries the milk the goats

and cow that live here produce loves it.

Looking forward to being a part of this list.

T. Bernard
