I'll probably ask for beta-readers from this

group, when it gets to that point. Don't hold

your breath, I have another project ahead

of it, but I'm writing chapters as I go,

based on what's cooking this week. Kind

of makes cooking dinner more fun!

maybe an NT version of Like Water for Chocolate? although those recipes

weren't exactly practical, just fun to read. And IIRC, one nearly killed

the dinner party :-)

OK.

I never read the book (I did see the movie). The dinner party

story sounds interesting. So far I'm no good with

fiction though, much less love stories. Let's see, se

could tell stories of butchering animals, boiling

hooves, Africans eating fermented bugs ...

Oh, I think you'd love the book.. every chapter has a recipe! You can't get

that from the movie. I don't remember what happened with the dinner party..

the young girl put something in the food, I forgot what.. oh, I think it

was her tears? But when the woman died of flatulence, I thought that was

pretty memorable. All those beans, I guess even soaking them wasn't enough.

I'm no good with fiction either. Can't concentrate on it enough, so I get

lost. May be from being so used to skimming the message boards! Skimming

seems to work better with non-fiction.

I keep saying I should lighten up my reading with fiction, and maybe I just

haven't found the right books.. anything to do with traditional cultures

and especially if there's food descriptions in it!

Wow, wouldn't that be great! Stories that talk about REAL food

prep, or life in a real village. Kind of like Clan of the Cave Bear

but more realistic.
