Del,

Thanks so much for the encouragement.

I used to belong to a kefir group. . .I am moving in 3 weeks, so maybe I will

re-join the group and give it a whirl.

I am better though since I quit grains. I do have good days now. . .

Thanks again this really is a great group

Kefir that you make from the grains are no where near the kind you

buy in the store. I would suggest that you give it a try. I know

about itchy. I have a itchy spot on my arm that just won't go away. I

think I have had it for 20 years or more! I think it is a rash caused

by gluten (forgot what it's called) as I have found out that I am

gluten intolerant. Quitting eating gluten was a good thing for me as

I started improving in the tummy area. I though it would be hard as I

love gluten but it was not hard at all because I have found gluten

free things to eat that is good! Still not there yet and the rash has

not gone away but I understand that it will take awhile to be off

gluten before the rash goes away! It does feel like it is getting

better though! About not having anyone that is a support, most of us

here are in the same boat. I have a large family and no one is a

support for me. They all think I am doing more damage than good. A

lot of days it is hard but I come here and get support and that

helps. So hang in there and do what you feel is best for you.

I went back on and now it is as bad as it ever has been.

intolerance or something else, but I was wondering if kefir would

help you. Not only is it fine for people with lactose intolerance,

but it is also great for digestive problems, and can even help to

heal ulcers.

you have been a big help.

I am going to join the Kefir group again once we get settled, and have someone

send me some grains. I am determined to fix my problem.

It might be worth a try, and you could certainly ferment it a little longer to

make sure that all the lacose is converted into lactic acid.

Another thing is that things sometimes get worse before they get better, and it

might be a good idea to use just a little a day for a while until your system

gets used to it.

Applying a little kefir to the rash would probably help as well.

To learn ALL about kefir, check out:

http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html

To get some grains, you could join the kefir list: " real kefir " at , let

people know the city in which you live, and maybe someone lives close to you and

can give you some grains. If not, people who have extra grains are happy to send

them to you for just the cost of the postage.

Hugs,

My fiance is a fellow low carber, however I cant' get

him interested in NT. I have my kraut, carrots and

kefir beer lined up on the kitchen surface, and he

will NOT touch them! He calls them " minging " ! lol!

He's not interested unless it's factory produced, yet

he's the first one to complain about the power of the

food industry and the damage processed foods can do

us! And he also winces at the cost of the meats that

I buy (but I do too!)

I guess that's why we are on this list, just to find

people who share a common interest, if we don't have

that at home
