Guest guest
Monday, January 26, 2009 yoga day yoga day omgoodness next time remember to make sure i didn't do any hard workout before doing biggest lose weight loss yoga. while some may think these dvds are "easy" they really are not but maybe bob wanted to punish those that thought so with a strength focused yoga. this is not power yoga, otherwise called ashtanga, but this is a powerfully strength workout with holds and some flow. use of a weighted ball(he doesn't say how much their water balls weigh) and hand weights are used but optional as some will show. there is also modifiers for the exercises themselves shown. what i love about the biggest loser dvds(well besides bob LOL) is that real ppl are working with you. that is encouraging to see all body shapes and sizes seen in real life. i don't watch the show so i don't know much about the contestants participating but i just know they are real ppl dealing with a real problem, struggling with being fit. i can relate so its encouraging.like many of the dvds, this one is programmble for the 3 segments(20min,15,10 respectivley) along with a 5 min warm up and a 5 min cool down. the warm up is light yoga stretching although i wouldn't start to many practices like this myself, especially IF you are new to flexiblity and yoga training. the first segment is 20 minute flow work. lots of holding but also similar to some other power yoga weight loss vids i have done, he moves in and out of poses to keep the flow in the legs but also holds between them, unlike other vids. i wanted to hate him so bad b/c he really killed my legs and here it was not even 10 minutes into the workout. he did do some slow moving vinyasas between these sets of moving in and out of warriors and triangles mostly. he loved to make you hold planks, or planks with one leg or plank and push ups. just a cruel little man LOL. the next segment is mostly core focused with various planks, roll ups, and boat pose using the ball. he also does camel while holding the ball which is good for the core but again, not great pose for those starting out or those with severe medical issues. the last segment uses weights so i call it more of a total body cardio yoga focus workout. the fact you use upper and lower body at the same time increases the heart rate while toning the body as a whole. some of the moves are very similar to sara ivanhoes yoga with weights and iron yoga exercises but i like it for its compact time limit. and that fact that this cruel little man will drag out a count on holds just to make you push a little harder.i will admit to doing SOME modifying and even taking breaks just b/c the minute i started i could feel soreness from yesterday's workout. my muscles were exhausted and so many times i wanted to quit and just shut off the dvd to try for another day but i kept a rolling. i enjoyed it very much and i enjoy bob's workouts very much. i have read some reviews that frown on his workouts and complained that some of the participants looked "bored" but the only way, myself anyway, find this to be true is if i found the workout boring, but i didn't. it was tough to get through i wanted to quit, i cussed bob out but i hung in there and focused. next time i do this one it should be easier b/c note to self will say don't do this workout after doing an 80 min amy workout the day before. i want to give it a fair shake so while i found it hard today i am going with mid-high intermediate for this workout. although all fitness levels would benefit, absolute beginners probably would not but beginniners with some workouts experience would be fine. just my opinion but this was worth $9 i hope his boot camp dvd lives up to same value as this one did. fitness blogmy domainSpecial Needs Scouting Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don¢t want to impress people they don¢t like.-Will
