Guest guest Posted March 17, 2008 Report Share Posted March 17, 2008 how does it differ from healthy eating books such as in Grain Free Gourmet or Gut and Psychology Syndrome or whatever? Our kids have been eating organic food since they were weaned (with the occasional trip to Mcs before we went gf). Not clear how what they're doing differs. I read the piece in Autism File and all I got was how much better it was to get your vits from food. That didn't seem like much of a revelation to me - we've been hiding every imaginable food group in " pasta " sauce for years now. It's no earthly good if the gut doestn' work well enough to digest it. I can't work out what the difference is? Don't want to spend another $20 on a cook book unless there is something whizzy in there. Is there? Guest guest Posted March 18, 2008 Report Share Posted March 18, 2008 Hi BB What food processor are you using? Is there an inexpensive one that will grind nuts as well. So far I have only managed to find a coffee grinder which would be too small. I know they ( mother necessity) recommends vitamix but when I goggled this I couldn't get a price so usually if you have to ask the price you can't afford it! I tried the millet flatbread( they sent me a recipe) which no one liked including me. I am like Steph and don't want to buy another cook book if I can't get Charlie to eat the food. Do you have a better recipe? Thanks Peta -- In Autism-Biomedical-Europe , " bbrowne123 " wrote: > > Hello, yes that is them. Cristin Fergus. Guest guest Posted March 18, 2008 Report Share Posted March 18, 2008 Hi, as with everyone else, money is an issue, cant afford vitamix, dont even know where to get one. we use a hand blender we got at Asda (they still sell them) Cost £3.98. Mix the nuts in a tall glass or plastic container, othewise they go flying! Only thing is these mixers burn out if you use them too much. I grind a little bit of nuts at a time with fruit to " soften it up " and not put so much pressure on the mixer. Has worked great until i can find a bargain on ebay or something. No, i havent tried the millet bread yet. but have tried the cookies which we all eat now. My son has pimples all over his face from the detox greens i am using on him from M.Nec. He has never had this before, so something is " coming out " of him. b > > > > > > http://mothernecessity.com/ > > > > > > Are these the people you are using BB? > > > Sally > > > > > > Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted March 18, 2008 Report Share Posted March 18, 2008 Thanks Do you think an ordinary blender would do the job? Isn't it laborious doing it with a hand blender? Guest guest Posted March 18, 2008 Report Share Posted March 18, 2008 Try and see. Depends on the blender i suppose. Mine is pretty cheap and it didnt work except for the ice cream, wouldnt mix just nuts, the blades just blew the nuts away. > > > > > > > > > > http://mothernecessity.com/ > > > > > > > > > > Are these the people you are using BB? > > > > > Sally > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest guest Posted March 22, 2008 Report Share Posted March 22, 2008 Hi Sharon, Thanks for the info - I'm still undecided what to do about a grinder/mill, probably subconsciously delaying in the hope that one of the local health food shops will come up with some. I've got a Baldwins catalogue, so I'll have a look there. I hadn't thought of them. BW Patience Sharon wrote: Hi Patience,I'm not sure if it would grind rice grains I think it might pushing it a bit ,but it's quite a strong little grinder.I have used it to grind up pecan nuts in the past.It would probably do about 5-6 tablespoonfuls of rice at a time.It takes me about 5 minutes to grind up about 400gms of mung beans .You can get various organic wholefoods and flours etc fromwww.baldwins.co.uk I've not used them yet,just recently found the site.HTHSharon.> > > > > > >> > > > > > > http://mothernecessity.com/> > > > > > > > > > > > > > Are these the people you are using BB?> > > > > > > Sally> > > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > >> > > >> > >> >> > > > > > > ---------------------------------> Rise to the challenge for Sport Relief with Yahoo! for Good> Sent from Yahoo!
