Guest guest
That sounds good to me!There really is no magic number for the casts.....at least not for us.My son was in a series of 6 casts over a 14 months. He was 15 months old when he started. His curve was 34 degrees and his last cast he was down to 15. His first couple of cast got him down to 19 and then casts 3-5 he stayed around 19-21. It really is different for every child. How old is your daughter? TashaMommy of twin boys- and 3 years oldFort Worth, Texas is currently in a brace-8 degrees out of brace!!Jeanna Ellis wrote: My daughter was casted for the first time a week ago today at Shriners in Lexington Kentucky. The day before being casted the x-rays showed that her curve was 67 degrees. After they got the cast on it was 33 degrees. Is that pretty good for a first cast. It sounds great to me but i don't want to get my hopes for nothing. And by the way how long does the casting process usually last months a year??? Guest guest
That's a really good number. Just to warn you, a lot of times you'll see some bounce back. So, even if it's 33 in the cast, it might go back up to the 40s or 50s - but you will still likely gain some correction from the original number. It's kind of a two steps forward, one step back type of thing, in my experience. (And occasionally it would bounce totally back - but not always). Casting, I believe, should be at least a year - at least that's what Miss Mehta told us. Best to you. Sandi
Guest guest
Hi Jeanna, That is AWESOME correction and very hopeful news!!!!!! Congrats! I was told A year to a year and a half in cast and then a year in a brace, but each kiddo is different and some go a little less and some a little more..... The good news is that you are on your way and time really flies!!!! StephJeanna Ellis wrote: My daughter was casted for the first time a week ago today at Shriners in Lexington Kentucky.
