Greetings to all, it's been to long in Lurkville. But i have been reading all

posts and really enjoying the flavour of the month thread - citrus aroma is what

drew me towards aromatherapy and eventually natural perfumery and think its a

great way to stimulate posting.

So i'm travelling around India and currently in Rajastan in the North. I would

really love to hear of anyone's experiences in India perfume, incense and floral

related. Otherwise just any good destinations you've enjoyed.

I'd really love to visit a distiller here or at least a farmer but it's proving

quite tricky. I understand it can be quite difficult to locate the local farmers

and distillers but if anyone has any tips or suggestions that would be greatly

appreciated or even contact details.

I've heard India is the new home of perfume so i'm keen to pick up some local

produce but also very wary of the chraltan companies. I smelt some " oils " the

other day and had a headache for 1 hour - thanks Synthia!

Is there any must have Oils from India? I've travelled through Mysore but

Unfortunately wasn't there long enough to visit the sandalwood plantation...

darn it!

Hope you are all enjoying the new year and happy blending to one and all.

Kind Regards and thanks in advance

Hi ,

How lucky you are to be travelling in India. my parents and i lived there for a

few years about 10 years ago. it was a joy.

Some of the best attar places are in Lucknow, kanpour ( sp? ) and New Delhi. I

bought a tiny bottle of rose attar in Lucknow.

The man put the oil in a tiny bottle made from camel skin ! I have used every

drop hahahaaa

have a wonderful time .

Love and hugs, joey

You might look over McMahon's old White Lotus website and read

through some of his adventures in his perfume journey in India.

Here are a few links to the old site. If you have specific questions, you may be

able to contact him directly; he is a peach of a person and extremely

knowledgeably.

hi richard,

If you still in North India than please go to Kannauj in

Uttar pradesh, Kannauj is the oldest place on earth for distillation of

sandalwood , agarwood and other flowery perfume,The district of Kannauj is

also known as Grasse of India or perfume capital. If you can contact the

right person, i believe u can get few indegineous species of oils.

regards

Imran
