Hi Guys,

We had some more excitement around the household last week. When I saw my rheumy

1 1/2 weeks ago,she ordered her usual labs,plus a d-dimer(elevated when you have

blood clots, also in inflammatory conditions). I had been complaining of

pleuritic chest pain, which was different than my usual. I had a CT of my

chest, which showed that I have a pulmonary embolus in my right middle lobe. So

off to the hospital I go. I got the news while I was at work, recovering a

patient. I was pretty upset, and a little scared. I had to call Darya, and she

started crying on the phone. After I got into my room, all the tests started.

Turns out that the calf pain I was having for weeks, was in fact a DVT(deep vein

thrombosis). Thats the leg that got the worst of the flare I had 2 months ago.My

knee had been hugely swollen, full of fluid, etc. So I've named the clots, " Hans &

Franz " . I'm on Coumadin now,and giving myself Lovenox injections twice a day,for

the next few days. My hematologist told me,that in his opinion I should be on

blood thinners indefinitely. Since my body is in a constant inflammatory state.

Oh,yeah! My anxiety level has been pretty high, and I would really like to not

have any more surprises. On an up note,my WBC's were perfectly lovely.

I also wanted to welcome the newbies. You have come to the most supportive group

of people you could find. And the amount of knowledge combined amongst the

members,is very impressive. I wish everyone the best, and am sending good vibes

to those in need.

Love,

Nissa
