Guest guest
Question for the crew. I am currently in the process of altering my diet both back to low carb, and then to a more natural basis. I am having some problems initially, and hoping some folks can steer me in a better direction. Here is an outline of my diet changes in the last year or so: I started doing basically the atkins diet in March of this year. I cut out all carbs and counted them trying to stay at 20 grams a day. I am not doing this to lose weight (currently 5 foot, 109 lbs), just to get some chronic pain issues under control and my hypoglycemia. After about 2 months I started to see a difference in my pain, so I tried to stick out the low carbs as best I could. Around July I started adding a bit of carbs here and there into my diet to see how I did. Everything was going okay, but as my wedding day approached and the stress increased, I found myself eating worse and worse. By the day of the wedding and through the honeymoon I was eating back to my usual way unfortunatly. 2 weeks following the wedding, the pain and problems began increasing again. So I started cutting back once again. The pain has continued to worsen, so I decided to go back to the 20 grams and then start with a more natural diet after doing some reading and research. My goal was to do this in stages, first remove the carbs, remove alcohol (I love beer, but know it probably isn't helping the situation), and then start incorporating more organic/natural products, probiotics, and digestive aids. So sunday, the 19th, I removed my carbs again and all alcohol (which was on average about 6-8 beers a week). The last time I did this, the first 5-7 days were terrible....I went through the standard withdrawals, shaky, grumpy, tired, upset stomach a bit, ect. I didn't think it would be as bad this time because I really haven't been eating a ton of wheat, corn, potatoes or sugar the last month or so. I didn't have much in the way of my standard problems, but my stomach has gone crazy. I have basically been nauseous for 10 days straight now. I am not having any other issues, no diarrhea, nothing, just a seriously upset stomach. I have an iron stomach normally, I rarely get an upset stomach, let alone to the point where I really feel like I might vomit. I haven't changed anything from my previous low carb diet, so I can't figure what it is. I thought at first maybe it was a virus, but 10 days straight seems a bit long and since I have no other symptoms, probably not. I am now stuck in a catch 22........I feel so nauseous I dont' want to eat, but if I don't eat it just gets worse. When I do eat, it doesn't help much, and then I start losing my appetite for that food just out of association. I am drinknig a ton of water, I have started drinking about 2 cups of ginger tea (also includes licorice root, lemon peel, spearmint, and peppermint) a day. Other then that, I am not eating much at all. NOTHING is appetizing at this point. HELP. I don't know what to do now. I am going to call my doc today, but she is usually quick to prescribe drugs and I would rather solve this then just cover it up. I do not have a natropathic type doc yet, nor the money until after the 31st to see one since insurance won't cover that. I am afriad if I add wheat or something like that back in, it might settle my stomach temporarily but I will be in the same boat again later. Oh, and I am not pregnant....lol...that seems to be the standard answer from my close friends. Any ideas??? _________________________________________________________________ See when your friends are online with MSN Messenger 6.0.
