Intro: Wynter, Texas

We have a few goats that we milk for ourselves and happened across this group

when trying to find what the laws are concerning raw milk sales in Texas.  Still

not sure on the laws.

I'm very interested in learning how to do more than just make butter and a few

soft cheeses and looking for an inexpensive milking machine (any suggestions are

welcomed).

Hi Wynter,

Mike Milkers (check him out online) has very affordable milking systems for goats, sheep, and cows.

Hi, Wynter, check ftcldf.org for the laws in Texas. They have a u.s. map that will give you a good idea or point you in the right direction.Cheers, in COSent from my BlackBerry® wireless deviceSender: RawDairy Date: Wed, 13 Apr 2011 09:26:33 -0700 (PDT)To: RawDairy <RawDairy >ReplyTo: RawDairy Subject: Intro: Wynter, Texas We have a few goats that we milk for ourselves and happened across this group when trying to find what the laws are concerning raw milk sales in Texas. Welcome, Wynter. I am also in Texas and have just received the o.k. for my

cheese license and will be applying for my raw for retail license next

month. Have a couple more things to finish before sending that off--like

figuring out my new milking machine! I've milked by hand for 15 years, so

I'm on a big learning curve. The Milk & Dairy Division of the Dept. of

State Health Services will have all the info you need on regulations. You

can ask for their Raw for Retail booklet. It's pretty straightforward. I'm

not sure where Silverton is, but there are several places around the state

that offer cheesemaking classes also.
