couldn't get a post to work

Try calling Jeff Brittle at _www.floragenics.com_

They make a beautiful glass Florentine flask separator...so beautiful to

see the oil accumulating.

It came with my 50 gallon still, but he may be willing to sell them

separately.

Do you use that separator Sandy? Does it work well? I always wonder how much

turbulence goes on which would of course mix the oil with the water somewhat.

Does all the distillate flow through the flask?

Also, do you use that 50 gall still and how do you like it? I'm looking for

something 25-35 gall but I may be able to use a 50 gall next season.

Thanks,

The separator came with a glass funnel which collects the distillate right

at the bottom of the condenser so there is no splashing. The funnel sends

the distillate down through the hydrosol. The tip of the funnel turns up

to allow the bubble of oil to float serenely to the surface and collect at

the top of the Florentine flask.

When I first began distilling I didn't yet know about turbulence and

wondered why the funnel was necessary.

Here's a photo of the unit up close:

and the whole unit from Floragenics
