Guest guest Posted May 29, 2011 Report Share Posted May 29, 2011 Most spiro smells like peppermint to cover up the bad smell and taste I recall.Indeed I can tell if a pt has it by smelling the bottle.High aldo makes your body think you are heat adapted and sweat less at rest if you are not in the heat.Therefore you have a very low Na and high K in the sweat.Spiro will reverse this. Some have complained about this as I recall. Another good reason we need a good database. CE Grim MDI have 2 questions for anyone who wants to answer. Hopefully they aren't stupid questions. I wondered if anyone who is taking spiro has a strange (not good strange)body odor since being on the med. I take 200 mg per day and have been sweating alot which is good because without the spiro I had stopped sweating (had sweat all my life until the last couple of years and it never smelled bad{unless I didn't shower lol} therefore I retained a lot of fluid everywhere. What I have noticed is I am sweating again, I have a bad taste and I smell funky. When I open the bottle of spiro it doesn't smell very good either. I actually just noticed the bottle smelling funny and plan to ask the pharmacy tomorrow. Just thought I'd ask for some feedback. It is an mineralocorticoid blocker and is a natriuretic more than a diuretic.CE Grim MDOn Spiro 100 mg/d and smell is noticed. Not like a real strong skunk smell but mildly skunky. Ughhh. Embarassing. Lol. I smell like a skunk.
