Guest guest
I'm afraid I made a 'terrible mistake'; I had recently ordered Benzoin from a very good source that have been using for years, but the Benzoin I got (Styrax Benzoin) smells chemical, and then, i had a vague recollection of there being 2 different kinds of Benzoins... I'm so dissupointed because i had just run out of the Benzoin that i had used and loved and need for a certain perfume I am making for a friend, and don't know what to do with this less loveable benzoin i have now. so i have a few questions, does anyone use the styrax benzoin for thier perfumes? how? any good sources to recommend for the Benzoin I was hoping for? and what's it's name? thank you Hemla

I think it's great. I've heard that there is two kinds Siam and Sumatra. The one I have is Siam benzoin, Styrax tokinensis, and I got it from Eden Botanicals. It's really nice smelling; vanillic and powdery, but really thick, gummy, and hard to work with. But it is great in blends and lasts a long time. I'm gettng low and I've noticed that Eden doesn't seem to offfer it anymore. I've seen it often at many websites, though. Guest guest
thank you Hemla ~~~~ namaste helma! as far as i can see, Liberty, Eden, JoAnne Bassett, & Mountain Rose have stock of benzoin... although you'd best to contact them directly to make sure. benzoin seems to do this little disappearing act now and again... so rude. *grin* much light to you! einsof
Guest guest
Just as a follow up: I had purchased Benzoin -styrax tokineses- ABSOLUTE while the warm, yummy sweet I was looking for was in the RESINOID. funny, one is supposed to pay attention to these 'tiny' details >_< all in all, I wanted to share that I had bought the most beautiful, rich and strong Benzoin Resinoid from AvAroma (the owner of what used to be called Tiferet, He had sold his North American company and the name Tiferet and now sells under the company name AvAroma) I am adding his contact onfo in the links section All the best Hemla by the way, does anyone use benzoin abs in perfumery? It doesn't strike me as very perfume compatable > > > thank you > > Hemla > ~~~~ > > namaste helma! > > as far as i can see, Liberty, Eden, JoAnne Bassett, & Mountain Rose have stock of benzoin... although you'd best to contact them directly to make sure. benzoin seems to do this little disappearing act now and again... so rude. *grin* > much light to you! einsof > > > >
