Guest guest
From all my research, I have come to the conclusion that there are NO natural fruit oils out there. The " natural flavour oils " that are sold are re- created copies of the scents made from isolates and other base chemicals. They are actually better described as " nature identical " in that they contain the same chemicals as those found in nature. But the individual chemicals can come from anything from coal to yeast extract. The debate also goes further as to whether the chemicals used to re-create the flavours can be classified as natural or not.... Guest guest
Here's a quote from an e-how article on vanilla and imitation vanilla. " Imitation vanilla is produced synthetically from the glycoside in conifers, clove oil or even coal extract. " http://www.ehow.com/facts_5542704_vanilla-extract-vs-imitation.html I am not a chemist and don't know what they do with the glycosides or how they make it into vanilla. in AZ

Regarding Chris's question about coal - at the risk of veering us out of natural perfumery as a topic, a lot of aroma chemicals come from coal tar http://www.ruetgers-group.com/en/home/products/phenols-other-specialities.html Andriot, owner Vetiver Aromatics <http://vetiveraromatics.com/>

The " natural flavour oils " that are sold I agree with Ambro.  The only fruit oils I use are the oils from the skins of fruits like citrus and from fruit blossoms. My Two Scents,Margo   www.miraculousbeads.com
