Guest guest
Many say that if you keep on smoking you should not worry about your BP as the smoking will get you first. In addition in the large BP trials we love to have lots of smokers as they are much more likely to have strokes and heart attacks from their HTN. So if you want to test your BP drug to see if it prevents or reduces strokes etc you want to enroll lots of smokers as many more will have these problems that non-smokers. Thus you have a better chance of detecting a significant difference with your new drug vs the old drug. But the choice is up to you.If you keep smoking you will be not only be chilled but dead cold.CE Grim MDno that's when I changed dr's. Guest guest
I've struggled with weight since my early 20's. Yes, I like to eat but I think there is more to it than that. Overweight people are not big, fat slobs who eat constantly without giving any thought to what goes into our mouths, somehow our bodies react differently to food. I used to work with a lady who was 5'2, weighed 102 pounds and ate like a 300 pound truck driver. Her motto was "a meal isn't a meal unless you've had desert". She'd eat a huge lunch with desert, and an hour later be munching on a candy bar. I tried to hate her but she was just too darned nice ;-) I think I've tried every diet known to man, some several times. About 17 years ago I took Phen-fen when it was all the rage, with low expectations in the beginning. I was amazed when I lost almost 50 pounds in 6 months. But the weight loss wasn't the most amazing thing about the drugs. For the first time food became a non-issue in my life, I could take it or leave it. I actually had to remind myself to eat at times and I remember thinking, this must be how normal people feel about food. I sometimes think I'd risk the possible heart valve problems I I could get it again, that's how good I felt while taking it. When it was taken off the market I almost cried and of course gained it all back over time. Weight Watchers is probably the most healthy, sustainable diet around and you actually get to eat real food. I figured it out once, it's about 1200-1300 calories per day. I used to lose pretty well when I stuck to it but the older I get I find I lose very slowly on it, and only if I do some type of exercise daily. The key for me is taking the time to write down every single bite that goes into my mouth, which is a pain. a >>>>Subject: Re: Labs 5/16/11>To: hyperaldosteronism >Cc: "Clarence Grim" >Date: Wednesday, May 18, 2011, 3:12 PM>>> >>>>Tell me you HAVE already stopped smoking!>>>The Shaken the salt ploy won't help much unless you cook everything from scratch. Guest guest
Good work. Actually I worked in a Phen-fen clinic for about 2 weeks before the valve issue came out. I was very impressed with the wt loss they were seeing and how good they were feeling. CE Grim MDI've struggled with weight since my early 20's. I never was and always ate this way never gained a lb. > >Licia>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>> <http://us.mc332.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=val@...>>>>>>>> Subject: RE: Labs 5/16/11>>>>>> To:hyperaldosteronism >>>>>> <http://us.mc332.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=hyperaldosteronism >>>>>>> Date: Monday, May 16, 2011, 6:57 PM>>>>>>>>>>>> How long have you been on spiro? Why are you on>>>>>> norvasc andlabetalol? What's your blood pressure>>>>>> doing?Do you take calcium?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Val>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> *From:*hyperaldosteronism >>>>>> <http://us.mc332.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=hyperaldosteronism >[mailto:hyperaldosteronism >>>>>> <http://us.mc332.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=hyperaldosteronism >]*On>>>>>> Behalf Of*Licia >>>>>>>>>>>> Here are my labs from 5/13/11.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Licia, African American, PA, 148/150/lbs, norvasc,>>>>>> spiro-100mg, day/semastin/labetalol/iron/vitamin D/>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> So maybe the Spiro IS Working??>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Component Results>>>>>>>>>>>> *Component*>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> *Your Value*>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> *Standard Range*>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> *Units*>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> *Flag*>>>>>>>>>>>> BUN>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 29>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 6 - 20>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mg/dL>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> H>>>>>>>>>>>> CREATININE>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 1.7>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 0.7 - 1.5>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mg/dL>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> H>>>>>>>>>>>> SODIUM>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 137>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 135 - 146>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mmol/L>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> POTASSIUM>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 4.9>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 3.5 - 5.1>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mmol/L>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> CHLORIDE>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 105>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 98 - 111>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mmol/L>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> CO2>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 21>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 22 - 32>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mmol/L>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> L>>>>>>>>>>>> GLUCOSE>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 113>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 70 - 120>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mg/dL>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> ANION GAP>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 11>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 7 - 15>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mmol/L>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> CALCIUM>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 10.0>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 8.3 - 10.5>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mg/dL>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> GFR ESTIMATED>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> 32.2>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> >60 ->>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> mL/min>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> L>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>
