I am on several meds but really the only thing that I take that I think may effect this is my bp med (chlorthalidone) which doctor told me is absolutely the wrong thing for me to be on. He does want to change that but wants to talk to Endo first.

> >

> > Doctor finally called me yesterday afternoon and said that my blood test results were back and they showed Aldo 0.8 and Renin 15. Potassium still at 2.5. Said the 3.2cm tumor the MRI showed was nothing to worry about and as far as the several renal cysts that it showed, he said he just didn't know. He did tell me that this was out of his realm of expertise but he did know enough to know that he had me on the wrong meds (chlorthalidone) for my bp. Mentioned changing me to Spiro(?) but said he would not change that going into a weekend and without first talking to an Endo. He is going to call and talk to them first thing Monday and get me an appointment with them. I have to respect him for being honest.

Refreshing to notice you atleast found a Dr. that knows his limitations! Also

smart enough to not make a major change on Friday, it's probably prudent to talk

with the Endo. and make sure they want to start you on Spiro., they may want

further testing before impacting them with it.

pain.

Note COPD and OSA. Many with OSA have aldo problems. pubmed Calhoun DA for details. My Ho is that the salt and water retained increases venous pressure which is a major contributor to soft tissue pressure in the neck throat area. Normal venous pressure in 7 mm Hg. So an increase of several mm Hg is enough to close off some folks air flow channels and results in OSA. I have suggested to Dr. Calhoun to look at this on a high and low salt intake but don't know if he is doing it.So in your case reducing salt and using MCBs may improve OSA. Will be interesting to see. With all of your other problems I would think that surgery is a high risk affair for you but discuss with your team.If you are in an area where you can do Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating to 1200 calories, stick to what they send you and the weight will melt away. Dr. Grim, I may be having a " Brain F_ _t " this morning but can't remember or

find out what MCBs stands for. Also is Ho = Health observation? Thanks.

I spent most of this a.m. checking out some of Dr. DA Calhoun's findings that

relate to OSA. Very interesting, thanks for pointing me in his direction!

I'll have more updates later but I need to start a new thread and I am suffering

from " Fat Finger Syndrome (ffs) " at the moment. Maybe lunch will cure it!

Dr. Grim, I finally got a copy of my lab results. You told me you thought maybe

they had my numbers backwards because you had never seen an aldo number as low

as mine. Can I upload it for you to look at? Do I upload it to a file

somewhere? Also, how would I go about hiring you to consult with me? Thanks,

Terri
