Guest guest
I just adore citrus and have a huge collection of virtually every citrussy essential oil... my favorite at the moment is green mandarin. It is so soft and fresh at the same time, totally magical and one of the central ingredients in one of my favorite perfumes: " Sense of Honour " . I used this fresh , but unobtrusive citrus to lend a sense of elegance to this very male and elegant blend. It adds a fresh feeling without too much tangy bite and adds a sense of softness to the woods and heavy musks there... http://perfumebynature.blogspot.com/2010/05/scent-for-country-gentleman.html I also love the greenness of green lemon...and I can see a cologne of some kind coming on with it.....the gentle warm bitterness of red grapefruit....tangerine is just divinely playful and fruity....then you have the wild depth of blood orange... I have used citrus in so many things...it's one of the great ingredients to bring life to a blend...its wonderful with florals, gives a nice edge to woods, lightens spices.... I've written a few blog articles about citrus and reviewed a few from different companies as well: http://perfumebynature.blogspot.com/2010/04/orange-treepatron-saint-of-perfumers\ ..html http://perfumebynature.blogspot.com/2011/08/for-all-lovers-of-orange-flower.html All citrus oils are antiseptic and are used in aromatherapy to boost the immune system, as well as brightening the mind and refreshing the soul. They are one of those oils that doesn't improve with age though, so you need to restock them every year, and keep em in the fridge too. It's not so much that they go off, they just fade and lose their edge and freshness. Ambrosia
